Hopefully be putting my new 360 in on Monday what weight of Oil should I use for break in and regular running. Here are some spec's
360 .030 over
crank ground .01/.01
stock rods/Arp bolts
Main brg clearence .0025
Rod brg clearence .0015
end play .004
I'm alittle bit concerned about the mains. When the crank was reground it was taken to the low

20W50 and an additive like comp cams if you're running a flat tappet cam. You need zinc and most oils do not contain enough. I wouldn't worry about your main bearing clearance, you should be fine. Run the engine at 2,000rpm for about 20 minutes to break in the cam and lifters.

If it were a roller cam you wouldn't need the additional zinc. Always add the additive when you change your oil. Without the additional zinc you'll wipe out the lobes on the cam. Comp Cams used to have an article on this very topic. You might want to check out their web site.

15w40 Rotella, Delvac or Delo 400 has enough zinc in it (not as much as it used to but enough. 11-1200ppm IIRC. used to have 1600) and you can get it at any Walmart cheap. Have someone turn the engine over with a bar while you watch the lifters to make sure they ALL rotate in their bores. Replace any that don't turn. If the motor is all buttoned up, unbutton it and verify they turn. If you fire it and one isn't turning your cam will be flat in about 10 seconds and it will do it no matter what kind of oil you had in it.

The lighter the oil, the less power required to pump it, and the more quickly it gets everywhere it needs to go. I've been running 10W30 in the racecar for years, and I heat it before every cold start I can, using a Moroso pan heater pad. Zero problems. Roller cam, but I still add a little GM additive for the sake of the other valvetrain parts. The car sees 8,000RPM.
On my flat tappet cars, I've been adding 1/2 container of the GM additive when changing oil.
