Last year at the Classics it ran a best of 13.26 @ 103 with a stock converter and 215/70/14 rear tires. 60 ft times were 2.0s at best. This year it has a tight 10" converter and 275/50/15 M/T drag radials. With that cam and converter combo and hooking up hard, what kind of gains do you think I could expect at the Classics in a couple of weeks? Not looking for exact, this is just for fun. 13.10s? 13.00? 12.9?

What do you think?

Thanks

Depending on the weather but, I'll say 12.90 @ 104 MPH
Doesn't that car weigh like 3400+ lbs?

From my personal experience, a 10th off the 60ft times equals a 10th and a half off the ET. So, if the converter and drag radials get you down to a 1.75 60ft, I'd say 12.85 or so.

Last year it weighed 3440 with a full tank of fuel, spare tire, and jack. Driver weighed 140lbs. This year, the spare tire and jack are removed. The back seat will also be out for the Classics while it's being reupholstered. However, the wheels are now 15" instead of 14" and the tires are wider, so that added a few pounds. Tires are within a 10th of an inch of the last year's, so gear ratio will be about the same.

Those are no small changes. How much weight is that? Weather conditions play a big part when trying to compare results as well.

I'll guess 12.93 @ 104.5.

I ran my first 12.9 pass on 103 MPH...when you hook you may lose some MPH but the weight loss and good converter should more than make up for it.

These guys are really being optimistic, i like that, that will be a time slip for the laminator.

I know I gained 2 tenths when I went to a sticky tire and also agree what comes off of your 60' so goes the e.t.. Assuming the converter is an upgrade, stalls better and is more efficient through the traps..............

I'd say bustin' into the 12.90's (or better) is no problem.

The air wasn't the greatest today, but 13.16 @ 103. Red light first round in the gambler's race, but would have broke out anyway. Best 60ft was 1.89 on the last run. Hoping for better air during time trials in the morning...and maybe a 12.9 or so. Either way, great first day.

You can look at that either way.... Either he's not MPHing real well, OR.... Damn!, he's getting out of the hole quick for a car that only goes 103!!! My car ran 13.7's at 101 last year.

Pretty good air this morning, at least in western PA. Let us know how it goes.

Cool! You'll get there, I've run 12.9's at 103 with a 1.81 sixty foot. I come out of the hole faster than many 11 second cars.
