You could always grind the head of the bolts thinner.......

Common problem.
Here is the solution. Come in a pack of 6 so you will need to buy two packages of these. I will tell you that they are probably going to be too long, I just cut them down and they work great. The heads are wafer thin and clear everything. Been using these for years. It isn't such a bad idea to have a few extra anyway.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MRG-914/?rtype=10Part number Mr Gasket 913 is a pack of 8 but is out of stock at Summit. These are relatively new to the market. Just the ticket.

I just went down to CAT and bought 8 grade 8 bolts. I put them in the mill and machined the heads thinner.Dave

I bought the 914 bolts and took them to the band saw and made them .625 (uhl).. The problem that I MAY have run into is,,,,the shoulder is .200 from underneath the head to the start of the first thread.. The flex plate is .110 and the spacer plate for the midplate is .090.. That equals to .200 ( the space of the bolt shoulder.. It looks like I run out of threads and start to eat into the shoulder of the bolt with the first thread in the crankshaft.. Looking at the bolt threads from the head,, looking down the threads,, you see the DAMAGE from the rolled over thread eating the top edge of the rest of the threads on the way out !!! Is it a problem????? Probably NOT if I use the right kind of locktite and torque the bolts up to 100 or so!!! I'll have ARP MAKE ME a set of 1/2 X 20 X .625 (uhl) bolts and SOLVE the problem the next time I have to put in a new flexplate!!!!

I have run into this for years. I don't have a lathe but I do have a bench grinder. I just go to the local hardware store and buy the right grade 8 bolts and then chuck the threaded end into my drill and grind the head down nice and evenly on the bench grinder. I have done this many times for myself and some buddies.
