Do I need pants now? What does the 2010 book state?

Thanks!

Single layer pants are now required for SST 10.90 class, but I don't think so just for brackets.

What I don't is NHRA's logic here. You can 10.0's in a ET car and don't need pants. But to run SST at 10.90 you do...

I believe it's due too the number of super street cars that mph at 150+

Super Street cars running over 135mph, have to wear -5 suit, pants, and gloves just like super gas. I'm not sure about the reasoning on this but I hope it cuts down on people wearing the plastic running pants. I think I would rather be wearing just shorts then have something happen, and getting that plastic melted to me.

Actually Rickster,
135+ in SST is subject to all the rules of SG,

I think NHRA likes to try out SST first, before they bust on the bracket guys!! So, the diapers, and pants will be trickling down...you can count on it. Er.. I mean keep your pants on and your diapers..Uhh, this just doesn't sound right at all!!

I think it is just as Billy stated. Next it will be the bracket guys required to use them. Next will be mandatory diapers in S/ST. I am not required to run one in S/ST as of yet but if i were to run S/G I would be. I go 154+ in S/ST.

10 flat and slower unblown or factory blown bracket car with OEM or .024" steel firewall doesn't need pants only a 3.2A/1 jacket. pro light classes (SST) require 3.2A/1 jacket and pants unless running faster than 135 then it's 3.2A/5...on another note i absolutely despise their new electronic rule book more than i can possibly convey

You are correct. As of January 1, 2009 SFI 3.2A/1 jacket & pants are required in
AA/S through M/S and AA/SA through M/SA and in any vehicle running 11.49 or quicker.
This is found in the 2010 NHRA Rulebook on page 9.11 in the Stock section under
Protective Clothing. Also in the General Regulations section on page 20.39,
Protective Clothing it states "Protective Clothing requirements stated are minimum
requirements; drivers are free to upgrade Protective Clothing." The same
requirements apply for Super Stock/J through SS/P and SS/JA through SS/PA or any
vehicle running 10.00 to 11.49.

I guess i depends on if how much you care about your own personal saftey. I use a 3.2A/5 jacket and pants in my Super Stock car, some say it's overkill, but it's my hide in case of the unthinkable.
