Roller Cam for small block?? - 04/20/10 10:48 AM

Hey guys,

who would you recommend to grind me a street roller for my 410SB mopar?

Is there a nitrous specifc grind needed if only using 175hp shot?

Thanks in advance

No nitrous grind required for a 175 shot. I have a Comp Cam XR286R in my 416. The next size up is the XR292R. These are both considered "street grind rollers" by Comp.

If you want to take full advantage of the nitrous then you should get a cam made for spray...but you will lose some power when your not running spray. Just call Comp Cams and tell them what your looking to do and they will set you up.

Depends on exhaust flow, even @ 175 shot exhaust duration and lift should be looked at if you want good performance

On our last combo we ran 3 foggers and about 700 HP worth of spray. When we changed over to the Procharger we used the SAME cam. Yes, there may be a small amount of gain by having a special grind but it's not even worth the trouble with a street engine and a 175 shot.

Cool It sounds like you have a good flowing exhaust port, Unfortunately not all small block exhaust ports are good, The additional 175 could just back up the port more, a cam with some extra exhaust duration for No2 will usually help , it did on our J heads with 150 shot

Using W2 econos with port work and 1 7/8" headers so I'm hoping the exaust side shouldn't be to much of a problem.
