Who makes the best engine-cleaning-brush-kit....? - 04/15/10 01:10 PM

.... I stopped off at a local small-town machine shop that has a parts dept ...... they had a "kit" available ...bore brush and all ..six brushes total ....

$ 63.00 !!

There HAS to be something more reasonable than this. The complete kit I had some-time-ago was maybe 22$ or so ....

I realize that there is "inflation" . but not this type !!!

The last time I bought the MOROSO kit (about 10 brushes IIRC) it was between $30-40.

i pay about three times that much, but i use brushes made for professionals with a special mix of all types and sizes in nylon and stainless steel.
why buy what you'll never use though???

That's what I have, Moroso. I bought them at least 10 years ago and am still using them. Like said there was like 10 brushes in the set, They are one of the most handy tools in my shop. I have use them for many other projects besides engine building. Did I mention I still have all of them? they are good quaility and have lasted for me.

THX guyz .... The below is off the Moroso site .... #61820 ...

It's important to have a clean block - especially in critical hard-to-get-at areas of the oiling system
Each brush is designed for a specific purpose; there are two each of the oil gallery brushes since they get the most wear
Can also be used on crankshaft oil holes, cylinder heads, etc; bristles are made of nylon which cleans as well as wire but does not scratch
Sets of 12 brushes includes:
Two of each:
1/4" dia. 2" long 10" handle
5/16" dia. 2-1/2" long 12" handle
3/8" dia. 2-1/2" long 12" handle
One of each:
1/2" dia. 2-1/2" long 34" handle
5/8" dia. 3" long 34" handle
3/4" dia. 3" long 34" handle
7/8" dia. 3" long 12" handle
1-1/4" dia. 4" long 12" handle
5" dia. 7" long 18" handle

GOOD deal ....12 brushes ..... BTW .. who discounts Moroso the best ?
