Fred, just take the gauge panel out and wire it on your kitchen table where its simple to do, you can do a really neat job wile enjoying your favorite beverage, if your trying to wrestle it together under the dash just kill yourself now and save the head ache

Like I said before, certain gauges I prefer mechanical to work without power.
For the electric ones, I wire them all together in the gauge panel (on the bench), and then just run one set of wires from the gauge panel for connection to the car (positive, negative, light). Each sensor wire gets to making it a lot of wires between the gauge panel and the car. And that makes maintenance a pain.

what's volt meter
fred, all my car has a voltmeter if your running a alternator, you need to know where your voltage is at startup to see if you need to charge more between rounds.

Only fooling looks good

Well I should at least have a tie for the least number electrical gauges, how many of you have a mechanical tach?

No [Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean]...Next time I'm doing a tach.
If I want to turn...I'll stick my arm out the window.

being an electrical engineer, i also would vote for 100% MECH. GAUGES, AS THE ELECTRONICS ARE ALL
+/_ 10% at best and require recalibration once a year. besides the dash would look like your basement home lighting panel!!!!
and you guys laugh about mech. volt gauge????
its called a magnetic compass next to the primary wire which shows the EMF field change as the voltage increases etc. or cell hydrometer which shows specific gravity of SO4 in the battery.
just busting your socks!!!!
