What year Dakotas? the room gets better the newer they are. IE; 87-90 tightest, 91-96 better, ETC.

87 Short Bed
Engine bay is plenty big enough... This one used the stock trans cross member rear sump deep Milodon oil pan, motor plate....Headers is one problem. You can make A body fender well headers work.

gen 2's (92-96) have the most room under the hood

I agree. The only thing I was thinking of is the clearance between the W/P pulley and radiator if someone wanted to use a mechanical fan.
That looks mean, what kind of times?
