What will it run...no, seriously...a WINNAH! - 04/01/10 01:02 PM

I'm heading to Dragway 42 this Saturday for the first passes ever in my '74 Dart in the sig. It's a 4 door with a stock 198 slant six of unknown origin. Absolutely nothing has been done to improve performance. the previous owner made a couple of passes with the car, so I have an idea what it will go, but I think it'll go faster than what he went by messing with shift points. Winner gets a Malley's Chocolate "Break-Up", which is a half pound candy bar.

Ronzilla, what's up? I bet you are chompin at the bit to run that ole gal! That motor came out of a 68 Signet with 34k original on her. She is a real time capsule. It's three streets frome me now with a 408 pump gas motor going 10.90's these days.....

Let me know if you need anything, still have lots of parts for that from the black Dart Sport Fulk has now.

Vic, I'm dying to get the hot rod out there and make some passes. I put on the catch can, battery hold down, and double throttle return springs on yesterday. Front tires look a little iffy, but I should be alright...

The worst my stock 225 '76 Dart did was 22 flat. The best was 19.3.

So I will go with 19.72 @ 68mph with yours.

I snuck my sisters 65 Valiant to Quaker Raceway back in the late 70,s It had the 225 Slant 6 and some decent factory gearing

I remember running some mid 18,s maybe even a high 17 on a run

Your newer more smog motor and heavier car will run slower. Im going to guess high 19,s to mid 20,s if you have her running good. mike

Mr. Jeepmon was .08 off. I made 3 passes...the first was a 18.81 at 72.93, and the second was an 18.70 at 73.47. The wind then picked up big time, and the clocks were tripped by leaves on my last pass. Jeepmon, you have a PM coming...

BTW, I was expecting mid 19s, so I'm pretty happy. I've done nothing to the car...yet.
