Working On The Car

Working On The Car - 03/25/10 08:19 PM

Well yesterday I got out in the shop after I got home
from my shoulder therapy... I pulled the headers to
work on them... I broke the collectors off a year ago
(Wild Bill remembers that day LOL), well I got the one
side all welded up and back on the car... re-installed
the rockers on the one side of the engine... I found
where a push rod jumped out and chipped the adjuster
cup so I put a new adjuster in and got them back on,
well in doing all this I must have over worked my
shoulder..... MAN... did it hurt last night and today,
went back to therapy today..... still hurting...
well I guess I better take it a little easier on it,
the therapist wasnt real happy with me today....
and I wasnt real happy with the pain either... even
the pain pills didnt help last night.........
reminder to self......... TAKE IT EASIER for a while...
man I can be so DUMB.
I still need to fix the other header and get the
rockers on the other side, plus I want to change
one of my fuel pumps and then its just give the
car a going over.... I would still like to put in
a new fiberglass dash but I need to order that yet
Thanks for letting me RANT a little

Mike you do need to pace yourself to allow your body to heal. I'm sure it felt good mentally to get out there and work on the car. Just keep in mind your aren't 18 and bullet-proof anymore. Jim

the PT is so you can do the stuff that hurt.
Unless they are only working on range of motion, why isn't working on the car PT?
Kinda like driving a fresh engine the way you are going to use it, breakin' it in right!

Re: Working On The Car - 03/25/10 10:12 PM

Mike - I know exactly how you feel. Four years ago I had a triple bypass. Ten days after the surgery I told the doctor he either had to let me go back to work or have me admitted to the funny farm. I was going absolutely nuts sitting at home doing nothing. The first half day back at work plumb wore me out. I guess us old ones can't learn to take it easy - but you're 6 years younger than me so you're not old yet. Take it easy anyway..

I know how you feel. I was like that after my back surgery and I take pain meds every day for my joint pain. Hang in there as you will get better and be out on the track in no time. Ron

Re: Working On The Car - 03/26/10 12:26 AM

I hurt my shoulder, and my neck a while ago, I was welding inn new Oxygen lines at a steel mill I worked at, and it was winter. Well I ran out of rod, so I walked outside throught the opened overhead dorr, then WHACO, I was out cold. A chunk of ice fell from 110 feet above me and hit my hard hat, shattering it, glanced off and hit my shoulder. The piece that was left weighed over 85lbs. It compressed a vertibre in my back and chipped #7 in my neck. messed up a tendon in my shoulder. I never went to rehab, or anything other than a quakopracter. He did good work, I felt a lot better, was out of work for a few days, but I was young. Now Im 30 and its gettin to me big time. I know your pain, and Im sorry for all those who messed up their bodies cause it draggs on for a long time.

I also used to race Dirt bikes so my knees, back, and neck are toasted.

Sorry man,,

Kasey

When I had my carpel tunnel surgery, the doctor told me to go home and do my normal routine. So I went home and pulled the rear-end(3rd member) out of my car. Man that hurt..

LOL... I think your right Bill.... I know my doc told
me to take it easy, keep it in the sling.... but
damn it gets BORING sitting around... I can only
watch so much TV.... first I started doing some
minor cleaning in the shop then it was doing a little
work but I wanted to work on my headers.... so...
you know how that goes
