Here ya go gurus and engine buildlers - 03/18/10 01:56 AM

Ok here is the situation, as the new season is coming around i am switching from a stock style devision to a pretty much open class.

i currently am running a 440 with a 4.15 crank, 4.375 srp flat top dual v/r piston that is set .012 in block with a .990 pin on eagle h beams, topped off with eddy rpm 84 cc's which have been cut .050.

now the issue is i am looking to bump it up to the most hp and torq i can, without throwing all my money out the door starting from scratch.

the rules for my new class is 500ci( which im already close to)
single carb only no efi
race gas only no alco, eth, meth and such.
motor must be n/a

i am looking to get hopefully at least 700 hp range with what ever i do. will i be able to get close with a .650ish cam, zero deck, cutting the heads some more and haveing dwayne work his magic on the heads? or am i in a whole diffrent ball park?

any help would be great

I'd switch to a solid roller, and I think I'd go for some MW port victors or indy EZ's over the RPM's...

first question you need to answer is how much you are willing to spend. there are a number of ways to go about it. if you are going to change the heads you can offset the cost of new stuff by selling the old. what do you currently have for camshaft, rockers, springs etc.? also what caps do you have on the bottom end? also remember the class limitations you mention leave a lot of room for others to make some pretty serious HP. the mods you mentioned would probably get you in the 700 range.
