Mancini intake-carb package ?

Mancini intake-carb package ? - 02/10/10 06:24 AM

Mancini offer's an inline Eddy intake for the RB eng that comes with two 600 carbs. My question is that is this a new intake design or an old one. Also would it perform better then the crossram and as good as my Holley Street Dominator intake and 850 DP on my mild 440 in my 63 ? Ron

Here is the intake:

The NMCA rules for NSS mopar "wedge" engines is as follow:
•"Chrysler Wedge; Inline or cross-ram 2x4 or single 4bbl intake with Carters, AFBs, or Edelbrocks"

You guys can keep your single 4bbl intake and just switch to an AFB type carb. Then switch back to your holley when bracket racing.
Double check the NMCA rules,
as far as the Chrysler Classic Max Wedge class, it has different rules and the inline eddie manifold is not legal. You would need to clarify with CC Events what manifolds are legal.

That is the Edelbrock CH-28 intake. It actually makes fairly good power for a low profile dual plane. A good single plane intake will make more power but the CH-28 does okay. It made about 615 hp on my 505 shortblock.

That intake is legal for cc events. Looked in rules and it says cast inline or x ram or indy style.

Send Rich an email and see what he says. I know they do make you run some sort of lettering on the car.

The way I read the rule for CC Events is that the intake is not legal. This is word for word in their rules and I was at a MW meeting a few years ago when they let in the 65 cars and they said then no inline dual 4's permitted. It states cast or aftermarket cross rams or Indy style. So does the intake everyone is referring to an Indy Style intake I guess it's all up for debate.

d. Intake Manifold: Must be cast production or aftermarket dual four cross-rams or dual four “Indy-style” inline manifolds. No aftermarket sheet metal or fabricated intake manifolds allowed. No direct in line allowed.

someone should lobby to get them excepted, maybe if they're looking to get more cars they'd look into it, show them chrysler used straight inline intakes on the 383 and 413's. this could be said to be and updated version.

Indy sells Edelbrock products..And could sell more if they would lobby CC Events to allow the inline intake...

Hi,
I just talked to Chris Schneider of the midwest nostalgia super stock 5 race series coming up this year, and he said no problem what so ever with that intake setup. If you have any question about the series please feel free to call Chris at 573-644-3272.

Re: Mancini intake-carb package ? - 02/11/10 10:37 PM

I would only plan to run a few events here on the east coast in the Md , NJ and PA area. My 63 is a street car I drive but I still like to race it some and racing with the NSS cars is what I like. I wanted to build my new eng to put my 63 in the 10's but funds are to tight now. Thats why if I go to a dual four intake I would like to still run mid 11's as I do with the Holley Street Dominator intake and 850 DP. Thanks for the replies. Ron

Hey Ron,
you should be able to run 11:00 flat no problem with that intake, plus I don't see why you couldn't modify it like the vanke hemi one to help on the top end. I ran the stock one on my hemi , then the vanke one and picked up 2 tenths.

what are the air cleaner choices using this 2x4 set-up? would be neat if there was a Six-Pak style for it

Hey guy's, I have this set-up from Mancini also. Now, I don't race my car,not have I done any dyno testing, but I love the way it runs and it's street manners. Very good throttle response. Almost a "bolt-on" and go set-up. I did very little to get it to run great! I'm including a couple pix of the set-up, fuel lines I fab'd and the "6 pak" style air cleaner. Take care! Jeff
