static vs. dynamic compression - 02/08/10 11:00 PM

I have been playing with the Wallace racing calculators and doing some thinking (very dangerous thing) which would be best to use to figure what fuel to use. With the figures I run I have 14.3/1 static compression but that converts to 11.65/1 dynamic so my question is should I run 110/112/114

I'll bump this once any other thoughts

i would think 110 would be plenty.
i'v been playing with that same calculator to figure pump gas use. its said that if you keep your dynamic compression under 9:1 your safe on pump gas, but is that with a cast iron head or an aluminum head? anyone know?

My aluminum headed small block is 9.7 dynamic and 11.4 static and runs fine on pump on street & strip. I did a lot of smoothing ridges off pistons & combustion chambers while assembling it. I think another question in the equation is quench. I have mine set at .039. Tight quench makes a lot of difference in detonation resistance. Just my

ok, my quench was .039, but will bee .040 with the new sce gasket.
