Magnafuel pump question - 02/01/10 03:17 PM

For you guys running the magnafuel 500 pump are you running a 12AN feed line or is 10AN good enough. I have a 408 small block running 10.30's on gas and I am moving to alchol. Is the 500 alittle overkill for my combo?

its fine for your application, just make sure you get a good fuel regulator like a product engineering one. i think the product engineering fuel pump is a better design, it has one extra vane.

when i switched to the magnafuelprostar 500 i had issues with blowing through the needle and seats. i had to go to a return system back to the pump to keep the pressure stable.heres the return system.its by product engineering.

If you have to replumb for the pump already just go to the #12 line and be done with it. IMO no such thing as over kill on the fuel system. Look at it this way, you will never have to upgrade the system again, when you go this route.

I run a Mallory regulator on my 500 pump. No problems.

I run the Magnafuel 500 and use the old holley regulators for the motor and nos with no problems and we also run a return line back to the tank.

Return from the pump or the regulator?

I have the Product Engineering pump/filter combo with the builtin return to the cell. -10 pump to Mallory regulator, -8 regulator to carb. Nice setup and have had no problems.

We have one from the pump and one from the nos regulator back to the tank, this keeps the fuel from deadheading while you are checking fuel pressure. I think the return at the pump is a #8 and the one at the regulator is a #3.
