Easy method to boost carbed V8 - 02/01/10 12:36 AM

Just putting together a idea of a easy way to boost a 318 in a D-150 4 speed. To make it easy say the inner fenders are removed for space, and only need 4-5 lbs of boost.

Try to keep the oiling system independant, so no tappin the V8 pan. No special intake manifolds needed just a closed box carb lid. Turbocharging with a all in one style T3/4 turbo. If they make one for that size ?

A electric fuel pump with rising psi control for the boost will be needed. That is understood.

If its a turbo can you just route the stock exhaust r+l y pipe, back to the turbo inlet. Instead of a expensive header system with turbo mount.

What is the Caveman way to run a non intercooled turbo 318?

if you want caveman i remember in my youth seeing a early '60's english ex police car with electric blower!!. no BS, this english 6 cylinder had a round fan section ducted into the carb. on the inside there was a toggle switch marked "pursuit" which turned the fan on. in it's day i'm guessing you got another 2 mph with this working. much cheaper these days to duct in some fresh air.

Turbo would be the best, they need some kind of oiling system though..It doesn't take much...1/4 tubing, and just route a return some were easy like the fuel pump block off plate.
Turn the manifolds backwards etc...
It wouldn't be hard to make a adapter plate from steel if you have any fab'n ability and a torch and welder.

Came accross the strangest story. People using 60MM DUCTED JET 12V BRUSHLESS MOTORS. The kind used for RC jet aircraft. The 60mm Ducted Jet fits directly to his nissian 60mm throttle boddy. the brushless motor is able to be turned off with a switch. $300, Jet moves 10,000cfm at 28lbs per cu " in the test area. Powerful next gen- LiPo ELECTRIC Jets! A reostat 1CH ESC controls the amperage for the Micro jet boost. While off there is amlost no feeling of obstruction, even though the stock MAF system adjusts for the incoming air flow, it might run smooth anyways. I'll grab the "tech" and see if he'll give it up.

No exhaust cutting, can run off external LiPo laptop battery and turned on like nitrous. Maybe this can be used on more than MAF'ed 2.0L 4 bangers. Supposedly it makes quite a whistle when you flick it on, the jet runs 40-50k rpm.
