Get a set of thread gauge's. Then you can go on the search for a heilcoil, OR you might try one of the epoxy thread repair kits.

Good luck!!

Mike, Buy a set of screws with the holes through the center of them, they usualy have a thick head, take them to a machine shop and have them take some material off the bottom of the head and them the screw will reach the threads still left in the hole. .....Phill

In my opinion you would be better off buying a Pro Form or Holly center section to replace the one you have. By the time you get done chasing parts or labor with today’s gas prices you might even be saving money. Just my

It's a #12 x 28 thread. A real oddball. If you helicoil it you'll have to use a hollow screw because you'll be getting rid of your slots where the gas comes up around the solid screw.

jim; i agree with u,i have thread gages at work will double check thread size;
phil;i used the hollow screws thats what caused the problem,there was a burr on the bottom where the slot is cut,it threaded in fine but when i removed it,threads were pulled.
gts don ; yes if i have to i will buy a new body,this carb i have now has alot of work just trying to fix it if i can.

comp;thanks thats what i was thinking was 12-28 thread.
thanks for the help guys i will now try to find a heli-coil kit in 12-28 .thanks mike

What I've done for friends a couple of times is shorten the check needle that's under the screw up so it gave me a few threads for the screw to bite and it worked okay. A lot of Ford holleys on 460 trucks have a check needle that's only about half the length of the standard needle and they work fine. They are also aluminum so loosing the weight won't keep it from seating . Just a thought.

This place sells a repair kit for that. Look in their online catalog under carb parts and fuel lines. It listed as : pump nozzle screw repair kit.

that is a nice kit,simple too,i just oredered a heli-coil kit the thread is 12-28 for a squirter and the fuel bowl is a 12-24 thread.what is the purpose of the needle under the squirter?should it be loose when squirter is tightened in ?as in it would rattle if carb is shaken?thanks again guys

It has to have room to raise up a small amount to let gas up past the needle. It's purpose is to seat when you let off the throttle to make the accelerator pump cavity pull gas from the bowl to refill the cavity with gas instead of pulling air back through the squirter into the pump cavity, which it will do. I've seen guy's scratching their heads when they left it out.
