Seems decent. I am going to use Joe Gibbs to break in then either the same brand or Amsoil flat tappet after that.

Not yet but with 1800 PPM of z/p it should be a winner.

What weight oil do you normally run in spring/summer for the street?
I was running SAE-30 weight with Hughes high pressure additive, but would love to just use a good oil with no mix additive because I've heard alot of mixed reports on mixing stuff to the right additive mixture with different oils.
Hughes claims their stuff mixes with any oil, but they don't really recommend what oil brand/weight/type to mix it with.

Don't a couple of cam companies offer a special process that makes the cam and lifters BULLETproof and eliminates the need for any of this special oil or additives ?

We are now suggesting the Joe Gibbs Driven oil with all of our cams. We still offer the additive but their good enough oils now that we feel one of them is the way to go.

...is GM EOS and regular 10w30 a satisfactory combination?
I have access to a large quantity of GM EOS.

In the right oil that would probably be fine. Part of the problem is all of the detergents the newer oils have in them. These detergents fight the Additives for space on the metal. You really need to look at switching to one of the newer, Not for street use oils like Joe Gibbs Driven.

I was wondering the same thing.
I'm thinking the hot rod stuff, lotsa zinc.

The hot rod oil is good for something that doesn't get driven a lot. Rust inhibitors and all that. Call Gibbs and give them your application and they can give you their recommendation. They do make the oil after all.

We like the Break-In oil for break-in and the 10W30 HotRod Oil for everyday use. Either Conventional or synthetic. The XP3 racing oil is good for full time racers or cars that get run really hard.
