Re: 325/50/15 on 68-70 B-body? - 01/11/10 01:46 AM

Looking to put 'em on my 70 Charger. I will have the car 2-3'' lower than stock so I don't know if that will be an issue. I found a good deal on a set of 15x10 wheels with 5.5'' backspacing and I'm thinking those might work ... I'm hoping somebody chimes in that's done it.

Re: 325/50/15 on 68-70 B-body? - 01/11/10 01:47 AM

I ran them on my 69 Charger in the past,,,,this was on a 8" rim though,,,( probably should be on a 10" ? )

No issues as far as clearance,,,

I went to a bigger tire,,,295/65/15 and like it alot more,,,really fills the wheel well up,,,no rub issues,,,

I used to run a 295/65/15 on an 8'' wheel, but I want to go back to a 28'' tire. Thanks, I might have to give Brian a call.

Any pics of your Charger with the 325's on her? What was the backspacing on the 8'' wheel? I think it should be on a 10'' tho.

325/50/15 on a 10 " rim is about 5.5" of BS ( should be about 3.5-4" on a 8" rim)

Any side pics? How much room do you have between the tire and quarter/wheelhouse? I want mine to sit a couple inches lower than stock.

Between the quarter and the tire I have a bout 3/4", between the inside of the tire and the wheelwell I had to bend the flange in so it wouldn't rub I have probably 1/2" space there

On my super bee i have 15 X 10's and 5.5 backspacing mag 500's. I rub on hard corners or going up/down a big hill and slight turn. Dunno how you got around that on the roadrunner. My car has 295/50's (i believe) radial t/a's.

web page

Just have stock springs on it. Have some ss springs in the shed but have yet to get a chance to put them on.

I have ss springs, I did have those problems but once I bent in the lip on the inside of the wheelhouse they stopped rubbing

Most guys have to raise to fit a tire like that. If you want to go lower than stock, I think you are going to run into problems.

Re: 325/50/15 on 68-70 B-body? - 01/11/10 09:59 AM

here is a better one, 325/50/15 on a 10" rim 4.75" back space. I have more clearance on the pass side (1") than the drivers side ( .5") I think 4.5" back space would have been better, I have the room against the lip on the quarter panel

Josh, nice Charger. After seeing your pics, it's gonna be tight if I go this route. I'd actually want a little more backspace and I would just bend that flange and probably have to offset the springs a bit.

Re: 325/50/15 on 68-70 B-body? - 01/14/10 03:07 AM

Borrowed a 15x10 with 5.5'' backspacing to check. The tires mounted on these wheels are M/T Indy S/S N-50's which spec out at 28'' tall, 11.80'' tread and 14.10'' section width. The 325/50/15 M/T drag radials I want are 28'', 11.60'' and 13.10''. Anyways, here's a pic. The car doesn't sit as low as I thought it would considering it has -1'' Caltrac springs and 2'' blocks. I did use a 1/4'' wheel spacer to give me plenty of clearance on the back side.
