The Challenger was built by B&B Race Cars in Hoenwald, Tennessee and features a B&B sprayed retro paint scheme that recreates the look of Roy’s Super Stock Mopar he raced in the 1970’s.

I asked that on the S/SS board. The answer was that he will have plenty of time to get them. It only took 1 to get into Indy last year.

Will Big's car ever be out again?

I read that a 5.7 Hemi will be installed in it, but thought he'd be running something a little bigger. Maybe someone else that knows Roy personally can verify this or get some more info?

Why what happened to Garlits Challenger, did he park it or did something else happen to it?

Re: ROY JOHNSONS CHALLY - 01/06/10 11:22 PM

It was stated that Roy Johnson's Challenger was the lowest # (earliest) 5.7 Hemi Challenger produced. They had a choice of the 6.1 Hemi or 5.9 Magnum but apparently decided that the 5.7 would work best for them. But anyone has the option of installing any of the 3 available engines anytime.

Garlit's Challenger was at the PRI Show in Orlando in early December. One of the guys in the Mopar booth said Garlits would get back to working the bugs out of the car after the show.

Re: ROY JOHNSONS CHALLY - 01/07/10 01:56 AM

The 5.7 is not a bad option at all for more than one reason. I am sure Myron is up on the subject but if I were building one thats what I would be building.

Re: ROY JOHNSONS CHALLY - 01/07/10 01:58 AM

Right now the 5.7 has the best factor.
