stock Indy rockers - 12/27/09 02:55 AM

How much open pressure are they rated for? (wedge; 440-1)
Thanks!

A better question will probably be: can they take 280-300 seat/800-850 open?

They won't live long with those pressures. We have used them up to 600# open and they lasted about 200/300runs,once one breaks you should change them all.We also have used them with out any problems on 650 flat soild and 680 solid roller cams with no issues for years.300/850 you better use T&D,Jesel or HS.

Thanks for info. I was just going to ask about the indy 1.5's I got with my SR"S. I need to purchase some new shafts and I wanted to be sure before buying the Hughes banana grooved shafts for BB??????????

I went with the Harland Sharp 1.5's on my 440-1 heads, the whole kit just bolted right on. I have a 706/661 lift roller but I don't think my pressures are as high as your asking about.

I was told by numerous people who "have" run the indy rockers that there is a rule of thunb of .700" or 700#. I am currently exceeding both by alittle with no problems yet. I am stashing money away as we speak for a new set of HS before spring time.

No! Just about anything will do something for a little while but Indy rockers WILL FAIL with 850# open. If you are starting from scratch, the T&D's are just a few hundred dollars more. In my book that is a no brainer. Just make sure you run restrictions in the oil feeds to the heads otherwise you will have low oil pressure.

So I take it the T&D's use the stock style shaft mounts and oiling?

Re: stock Indy rockers - 12/30/09 07:34 AM

I would assume you can get a stock style single shaft T&D rocker system for the BB. Here are mine for the W2 Econo heads....

Mine are rated for .750" lift. They have a cup style adjuster. I am sure their ball style adjuster would handle more.

Re: stock Indy rockers - 12/31/09 02:52 PM

actually no. T&D's use a smaller diameter/thick wall shaft. This allows more materiel to be left in the rocker for strength. They then use a spacer (same diameter as a stock shaft) on the shaft when it sits in the stock saddles so everything lines up properly. You will need to restrict the oil feed to the rockers with T&D or Harland sharp rocker. Any rocker are that has roller bearings needs very little oil and will bleed excessive pressure if not restricted. We are a WD for T&D's. if you need priceing PM ir e-mail me.

PS T&D's use a ball/ball style pushrod. These are commonly available in .050 increments.

What type of shafts do you suggest with Indy/aluminum rockers? Do you have to run chrome plated or polished shafts?
