tremec 6-speed - 12/26/09 03:26 AM

i am curious about the tremec tk-6060 transmission that comes in many stock cars now (viper, vette, chally)
would a transmission like this be difficult to mate up to a big block mopar?
i really like the idea of 6 gears, and they seem to be a pretty readily available tranny at a reasonable price...
what all would be necessary other that getting a matching clutch set, and fabricating a crossmember, and mating up a driveshaft?
cost-wise, could i save some money going this route?
i definitely want a manual trans, but as a lot of others are, i am willing to do some fabrication to save some $$$....plus i like the idea of a short shift, and highway capability..
thanks for any input...

QuickTime has a bellhousing for a couple of different 6 speeds. I think they have a Viper bellhousing and one for the GM unit.

I am in the middle of doing this. Have matched to my 572 Hemi.
The T6060 is the same as the T56 Magnum. Quicktime make a bellhousing P/N RM6077.
This trans is rated to 700/700, but investigation shows it will certainly handle more so I am prepared to take the risk as mine will not be seeing continuous load like that (just bursts)
Have LOADS of information & pic's, PM me.

If your looking for a trans for your car look at http://www.americanpowertrain.com/ I have on going in a 1000 hp Hemi Coronet R/T and they guarantee it up to 1300 to 1400 ft lbs torque.

Bellhousing RM6077 (needed minor modification)
Use GM/Tremec T6060/T56 as input shaft length is correct.:

Re: tremec 6-speed - 12/26/09 11:07 PM

Yes, with the RM6077 bellhousing you have to use the Tremec TUET7277 (T56Magnum), or the other GM one (can't remember the PN), they have the correct input shaft length. With the bellhousing you need to use a 130th flywheel.

have just installed the Unlawful Racing 4-link rear too... (it's awesome.. will post another link on this).

No problem, actually the solution I'm looking for when you get to it will be the above the floorpan reinforcement solution you come up with.

Looks great

Re: tremec 6-speed - 12/27/09 04:01 AM

So the dodge trannys wont work due to the input length? The factory bellhousings should bolt right up to an A engine being the bolt pattern is the same as a new Hemi...

Re: tremec 6-speed - 12/27/09 10:51 PM

Not sure about A Engine, only know from my research (trial & error) etc on the Hemi/RB.
I do know there are many T56's out there, all with slight variances on the input shaft length, some casting differences, that effect bellhousing fit etc.

Re: tremec 6-speed - 01/20/10 08:40 PM

cool so you have to use the Gm version because it has he correct input shaft?(on Big block) what model vehicle does the T56 magnum come in ?

Re: tremec 6-speed - 01/20/10 10:13 PM

the T56 Magnum is aftermarket, so I do not know any vehicles they are specifically OEM'ed in (although Tremec says they are the same as the T6060).
