Alterkation - 12/11/09 08:48 PM

How many a body guys are running an alterkation frontend? Pros, cons, i just noticed that they move the wheels out 3/4 or so ob each side and i really didn't like that. How does alterkation compare to magnumforce or lrt. Just looking for opinions before we buy, thanks.

I think you should Talk to Bill Reilly I think he redesigned the control arms so they dont move the wheels out that far anymore.

heard mostly complaints about magnum force..
like cars on first pass colapse-ing the steering from the line lock...
or folding up..after an average wheelie..
fwiw...

i know alot of guys with bill alterk...and are happy..
dont know much about lrt..except whats been on here...

Re: Alterkation - 12/11/09 11:45 PM

I have one on my car, it has the optional shorter A-arms which reduces the amount of the front track width. I think its about 1/4" instead of the 5/8", then I run 2.25BS wheels and the track is narrower than before. I would recommend the Alterktion and the short A-arm option. I have no complaints at all with the front end.

Re: Alterkation - 12/12/09 12:41 AM

I have been 8.48 @ 160 mph, with the first generation Alterktion, on a true 10.5 slick. I will not comment on the other types of front-ends, as I don't want to get into a "Pee-Pee" match with anybody. I can tell you this, my car, at 160 mph, is INCREDIBLY stable. Bill Reilly is one of the best people that I have ever dealt with, when it comes to customer service and knowledge. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me, and I will do my best to answer any questions.

Hope this helps.....

I have never seen or heard of any problems with the Magnum Force and have personally used it. The LRT is also a nice piece, but for a car that gets driven a lot, the Alter-k-tion is likely the best available. I actually plan on installing one of Bills units in a project car we are working on.

What is the weight difference between the Alterkation and the MagnumForce suspensions?

Jesse, we installed the Bob's Pro Fab. front end under Donald's Dart, it is a very nice piece as well. When I purchased the Barracuda it had the Magnumforce front end and the car drove great. The AlterKtion would be my choice for street/strip car but for an all out race car I'll buy another from Bob.
