Playback tach ?????

I want to get a playback tach. Did a search and most folks liked the VDO Extreme but from what I see they don't even make that tach anymore and no one has any on the shelf. Anyone use the Auto Meter Sport Comp playback. This is a foorbrake car and we can't have any drive line sensors so the higher end models are out.

Have had one on a dragster for 4 years, works fine.

I have one of Autometer's "Ultimate" playback tachs. I forgot the # but it goes to 9,000 and does not have the driveshaft sensor. But it has been a VERY valuable tool in learning what is really going on as opposed to what you think you saw.

I have it rigged up to a button I press when I prestage to start the recording. It's next to the aux. fan switch I also turn off at that time just before the run.

I have that tach in the Duster. I like it because it's easy to use and replays the run in 1/3 time so you can see what you did on the burnout , what you really shifted at(compared to what chip you may have used), and what you crossed the finish line at.

It will record for 80 or 90 seconds, plenty of time to start it for your burnout...... if you remember to turn it on!

Well that all sounds good. It also has a feature to let you know if your starting line rpm is within a 100 rpm's of whatever you prodgram into the tach. Once I prestage I never look back and am always wondering.

yep i have had one for years in the roadrunner. really like the playback. just ordered one for the dragster yesterday.

just bought a autometer 6875 ultimate playback tach tonight, it was mounted and never used in a drag boat.

the ex wife wanted to get rid of it....200 bucks..
