CECIL COUNTY this saturday going for a 8 second pass - 11/18/09 10:37 PM

taking the 65 dodge out this saturday with a little change, new slicks and going to shift her a little higher. hoping to get my 1st 8 second pass before the snow hits.

do you think its going to be crowded?
i want to get 4 passes.atleast
or should i wait a few more weekends.

if theres grudge racing going on, maybe they'll prep the track better.

What is the fastest the car has gone before?

EDIT> I see it now, Looks like 9.22? It would take about 70 hp @ 3300# to go from a 9.22 to a 8.99. Keep that in mind. To pick up .2 from a low 9 it take much more than a few "tweaks"

the new indy epoxy inserts got me .2 in my 63. plus new slicks and i was really short shifting, hopefully some good air and a prepped track might get me close.
maybe cecil county instead of atco this weekend.

.2 on a 10 sec car is a lot different than .2 on a 9 sec car. Good luck, just telling you what I learned when shooting for an 8 sec slip, the faster you go, the harder it is to make significant improvements.

It only takes 40 hp to go from 10.2 to 10.0 in a 3300# car. That was 614hp to 652 hp. On the low 9 combo it was 832->894 to go from 9.2 to 9.oh. Good luck with it. I don't mean to pee in your Wheaties, just speaking from experience.

I`m going to Island last race day/gamblers race of the year. Jason make sure you tell me how the oil thing works out. Have you been out since Mopars at the Patch? Also you better check the E Town schedule I think you have to run mufflers on Saturdays.

i know exactly what you mean, and you are 100% correct, the faster you go,the harder it is.
i'm just wondering since the 9.22 pass, i was underjetted and short shifting.
also slicks had no sidewalls left, so i think i am leaving a little on the table.
maybe its just wishful thinking and hoping.
even if i can get a 9 .0 pass or close would be nice to end the year on a positive note with this car.

should be no problem at all. I always just enter a race and then i'm sure to get three passes, after that just jump in the tnt lane

RUN 4.56 GEARS, with a 31x 10.5w tire m/t.
going to get my tag weather station and see my 1/8 mile et.
i believe its 5.80 something?

Chris Cecil opens at 8 I believe and usually start racing around 9:30 or so. I plan to get there around 9:30 to 10 oclock. But you may want to be there by 8 to 8:30 and have everything ready to go. I know last year on one T & T we got there at 8:30 and got in line so when they started racing we got 3 quick passes all in 35 minutes. Then it really started to get packed. But with the holiday next week maybe it wont be to crowded this weekend I hope. I plan to see you there and check out your cool car. Ron

I didn't see any 65 Coronets at Cecil on Saturday.
