Who wants to race this winter??? MN IL IA WI MI...VIDEO - 11/16/09 07:46 PM

Hey guys just wanted to give you a heads up. The ice drags are right around the corner. January 16,23,30 and February 6. We welcome all spectators and new racers. I know it's a little early, but if anyone wants to race this year they'll need some prep time to make tires. If you guys have any questions please ask. We'd like to make this year even better than the last.

The record to beat in the 1/8 is 5.592 and 140.58..

I know some of you guys seen us in car craft and were curious so now is time to get ready.

Here is our website that has most of the info

The car craft article with pics

Studding the tires does take a while so ask now and get ready for the 2010 season

Would that be called "screwing around"? Read about it, sounds like a good time.

Exactly how long does it take to get one tire done?

I hate the cold, but that does sound like fun!

We take the naile tires off and put normal tires on to get on the trailer.

You can get a set done in a day. You get a couple cases of beer 4-6 buddies and two screw guns. When one guy gets tired you switch. We have screw templates you put inside the tires so you keep the same pattern.

Here's a video for ya guys....

If I still lived up north I would so be all over that

I see "Modified Front Tires" mandatory in some classes....how are they modified...????

What do your wheel tubs end up looking like....some of those screws have to let go over time

The modified front tire is for cars with spoked wheels in front. The problem is once the slower cars are done and faster classes come up there are ruts dug in the ice. When the spoked wheels fall into the ruts the beam goes thru them. We allow them to put some type of cover on the wheel so the beam doesn't shine thru.

Yes some screws do break off but I haven't noticed any real problems with wheel tubs.

Some guys use oil heaters. Other than that just start them up to keep them warm.

Some weekends it has been -20*, the blown alcohol cars don't like to run well in that weather....

nothing runs well if it s -20
What comes to mind is a dry sump system full of
20w-50 at that temperature...
