Intake height difference. - 11/07/09 12:50 AM

Hi all.

I have an RPM intake on my RB right now, and may be going to a single plane instead.

Does anyone know the height difference between the RPM, the M1 single plane (4150 base), and the Holley SD?

Any help is greatly appreaciated. BTW, I cannot go any taller than the RPM that's on it now. I'm tapped for space as it is

The RPM is .60 to .70 taller than the SD.

Any decent machinist could mill 1/4" off the top of an intake without trouble or harm to HP.

Does the K-member have spacers yet? Wayne "Big Squeeze" is running them on his car. It's good for an extra inch of clearance. PM him and he'll give you the scoop on the spacers.

Go with the ported Holley Street Dominator intake.

You will probably still have enough room to run the SD and a 1" tapered spacer... which your RB stroker would appreciate very much.

SD is shorter than the RPM
M1 is Taller than the RPM

Here is some SD porting info from Streetwize:
I generally raise the outside port walls (runners # 1-2-7-8) about 1/4"
higher than the inside (3-4-5-6) runners and I also widen the walls of the
inside runners. Most of the work is in the plenum transition, there's a lot
of "Dead Area" in the roofs as cast. Can't get the camera in there but I go
into the roof about 2", there's a pretty bad dogleg as cast you can feel
with your finger, particularly the #1 and #2 Ports. #7 is a little
trapezoidal (think Gumby's head) with a slightly higher roof on the #5 port
side, this gives 7 a little more fighting room to compensate for the 5-7
firing order at high RPM

Do a search on SD porting or PM streetwize or firefighter3931 for tips.
