12 point cage - 11/05/09 02:33 PM

Anyone use competition engineering part # coec3309k in a early 70's dart? I've got a 71 that I want to cage. Kit description says 68/69 barracuda and 70 up duster. Wondering how it fits in a dart. I would think it would fit but surely someone else has already done it. Thanks, JP

I wouldn't use it... Not a big fan of Comp Eng stuff...

Just spoke with chassis engineering. They have a kit specifically for a dart. $100 more than competition engineering, so $510 with shipping roughly. Competition engineering tech didn't even recognize their own part number! Any advice or dealers with info on cages would be appreciated.

SW race cars. there cages fit really well. and i installed a cage that was bought from jegs and surprisingly it fit really good as well. it was good and tight everywhere the sw cage uses all 1 5/8 tubing and the jegs uses 1 5/8 and some 1 1/4 tubing. some of the tubes are already notched on both kits.

I "THINK" S&W gives you the option of either .134 wall MS or .120 DOM. Spend the extra money and get the DOM. It is lighter and will pass tech. I've heard of .134 not passing a sonic test because of thin spots.

If you are not going to have it custom bent then an SW kit is the way to go.
