MP stage VI Max wedge Alum. heads CNC porting - 10/24/09 12:11 AM

I have a pair of NOS Alum. MP stage VI max wedge heads casting #4532657 & P/N 5249579 I would like to have CNC ported if anyone has a program for them if not who has ported them by hand any help out there. Wanting to put them on a low deck for my 17 1/2 jet boat

Chapman comes to mind Brian...
I know he has a few programs, and those head flow astonishing numbers for the most part very small runners..There heads have very good port velocity etc.

If your wanting the best..these guys should get the work..

Last I'd heard Chapmans heads were $3500+ bare for a set of their CNC ported and on their website it states "must be a special casting"

The castings used for the Chapman CNC heads had raised spring pockets and used longer valves. The problem with the Stage 6 head is that it used stock length valves. Big Block Mopar valves are about the shortest of any production cylinder head. When you go to port them you can't get the roof of the port high enough as it breaks thru the spring pocket. Jake at Jakes Automotive had some that worked pretty well, though the runner volume was small. He is a member here you could P.M him and find out who did the heads.

the Chaps use a longer 5.400" intake valve and the Max Wedge runs a 2.25" intake. They are listed as 285CC which would compare to about a 315cc in an Indy when you take the spacer (built into the Indy and Edelbrock victor) into account.

I'm sure someone makes a CNC program but many of the Non-Chapman casting Stage VI's have porosity issues.

last I heard Chapmans have an "out the door" price much lower than they were originally when they were onr of the only 360-380CFM heads in town.

I have a pair and I'm very happy with them.

Modern Cylinder Head probably has a program for those heads. Maybe try Hughes Engines, Best Machine, Porter Racing Heads, Muscle Motors, etc. I'm sure with a little effort you can find someone who will port those heads for you.

Those were only bracket style ported, meaning not full tilt. I think at .500 they went 310 and .700 they went 355 or 365...can't remember.

I know Dwayne Porter (Porter Racing Heads) has experience w/ the MW Stage VIs, and a lot of Stage VI experience in general (especially finding & fixing the frequent QC issues).

He doesn't post much on here any more, so the best thing is to look up his Moparts user profile for "fast68plymouth" and call him directly.
