ideal trans drive shaft angle - 10/18/09 03:47 AM

what is the proper transmission (output shaft) to drive shaft angle? I have a vibration in the car at about 85mph-95mph then it goes away. Brad

Usually as the speed gets higher the vibration will
get worse if its a drive shaft issue... what size tires
are you running and are they balanced.... is it under
load only or if you roll out of the pedal some is
it still there

i thought that but i took the back wheels off and i get the same vibration. my 65 dart has a small tunnel. my drive shaft slip yoke has 3 1/2 inches the out shaft in it when it is bolt in the car.you can feel it in the car there is a rubber groumet in the tunnel for the tail shaft to hit on.if you drive through it and let off the gas it will come back and feel a little worse. I tried different drive shaft even took rear tires off thought it was them. I had one of those weights that are on some tranys that bolt to the tail housing and it got rid of alot of the vibration but you can still feel a tiny bit at 85-90 mph.like i said it did get rid of alot of it though. one of the drive shafts i ahd made 1330 joint up front and 1350 in back the other is one i bought from a member and had it shortened it has 1350 joints front and back. this is with a 904 trany.thanks Brad

How far out is the front yoke with the car at ride
height.... shouldnt be any farther than 3/4" max

I think that might be the issue.it is about inch too short.after putting that weight on the tail housing there was a good bit of vibration even at slower speeds. it made a really nice difference. Brad
