John Cope - 10/05/09 09:31 AM

I have been watching this site now for a couple of years and tried to get a feel for who is good.... or not good to deal with. Being located in Australia makes this especially important because its not a simple job to return anything that is not right.
For years I have heard John Cope this and John Cope that whenever it comes to transmissions, like he a good guy. I have now dealt with him on a personal level and I can say that he is not a good guy. He is a great guy! We rolled into his workshop to pick up a couple of transmissions on our way to Drag Week last month with a failing transmission in my (Chev)pickup truck. The transmission had just been re-built but had one of those wierdo problems that only show up when it is really hot and under load. John went out of his way to help us, to the extent of checking the modulator, governor and kick down switch, then pulling the trans out giving it the 'once over' and seeing that is was not an obvious problem, organising a replacment after confering with the original builder.(and telling him off for charging me so much!)And all this for a Chev!
It was great to meet John at last. I have dealt with him a few times in the past couple of years but its always by E mail or a middle of the night(for me) phone call.
Great guy. Great service. Cheers Mate!

John is a great guy, none of your report surprises me. You are a very dedicated racer to travel all the way over here to run drag week.

I agree. When my kid bought his new trans he called John and he advised him what he would need in it.Could have sold him lots more if he wanted to.Just sold him what he thought was best for his car.Its still as good as new after 3 years of pounding.John is one guy that actually talks to his customers and sells them what they need not what will make his wallet fatter. If I ever go auto in the 65 John will be building the tranny for it.Rocky

That's if he even sells you anything.

The first time I called him was to buy a billet rear servo. He helped diagnose and repair my problem over the phone with the seals I had on hand.

That's service

I met John for the first time at Monster Mopar Weekend last week. I knew from our first handshake he was a standup guy.
