Wilwood brake question

I have wilwood rear disc brakes on my car and i not it was really hard to pushing the car.The question i have if i look inside the caliber i can see the piston in the outer but not on the inner.should i be able to see both evenly? if so what can i do to fix the problem?

Is it a TF tranny? If so it's not the brakes. TF's are always hard to push.

Is the caliper spaced correctly over the rotor. Sometimes they need shimed a little.

Yes its a t/f car.so t/f cars are hard to push,why is that? I did shim the hat off the housing but when I did that I can move the axle in and out about 1/8 of a inch.where should I shim the hat or caliber?

By hat do you mean the braket that the caliper bolts to?

If so that should not be shimmed and is used to retain the bearing in the housing.

The shims (if needed) would go between that and the caliper itself.

I Have a TF's in all my cars and have 4 wheel wilwood brakes and mine roll very easy.
jack up the rear end and disconnect the driveshaft and turn yourrear wheels and see if its your rear, brakes or tranny, its process of elimination. it wont take you longer than 15 minutes total to isolate your problem.

i noticed my wilwood fronts were easy to turn when first installed and street driven but, now after 14 passes down the track they are hard to turn, like there draging.

Yes Wild bill that is what i am talking about.That bracket should lay flat on the housing as you said i dont shims will help me out.i will have to double check tomorrow.Superstockracer i am planning on doing what you said to see if its the brakes.mopar dave,i have heard that the wilwood brakes do drag a little bit so i think that is normal but we dont want that as it slow down the car

Heres the cure that worked for us. Replace the square caliper seals with round ones and put a 2" compression spring along the cotter pin to keep the pads retracted. Picked up 2mph.

On my Wilwood rears I had to file one side of the caliper bracket to center the caliper over the rotor. Mine is a lot harder to push with slicks on than with the radials.

My rear setup is Stange discs, also hard to push[spool, 4.89]. Never a drag problem there. U can usually check rear drag by lifting the rear off the ground and rotating the tires back and forth[mine has about 1 1/2" of slack] against the ring gear..if rears are dragging, no slack.

Did that increase the pedal travel?
