727 or powerglide

727 or powerglide - 09/28/09 02:02 AM

My friend has a 73 Dart Sport with a 650HP 440. It will not stay up on the tires at the launch. It hits the tires and goes 3 feet and spins. It currently has a 456 rear gear, powerglide and 3600 stall converter. The car weighs 2900 lbs. Any thoughts on more rear gear, more stall, or 727? Thanks.

I agree, chassis might require changes, but,... the convertor could use more stall if you ask me.

and if it is front end heavy, may have to go looser on the front shocks.

ladder bars are in the middle hole. shocks are on 4 clicks out of 6

I dont know what shocks you have but try tightening
them up all the way... the car is doing what we call
po-going or porpoising.... also you might try the low
hole.... it hits the tire softer but holds the hit longer

Nobody has mentioned, that the frontend could be so soft, that it is stretching the front out too quickly, bottoming out and unloading the tires.
