Re: New Twin Turbo 69 Charger on the streets and the strip! - 09/25/09 04:22 AM

Awesome is an understatement

Only 1 thing, It needs some screens over the turbo inlets, they will suck in small rocks and such and damage the compressor wheels. We found this one out the hard way.

Beautiful The only thing that would make it better was if it was a 68 But thats a personal preference.

I would like to see some more specs. Like

Turbo size?
Heads?
Compression?
What EFI?
What tranny?
What block?
Any HP numbers?
Any idea on the paint code ?

And as someone else asked , anymore of those headers laying around?

None of these pieces are off the shelf, we built our own flanges, and headers. We can build a set for someone if they need them or we can provide all the parts needed to do it

Bo and I work together. The wedge was not enough Horsepower for him, so he just installed a Keith Black block Hemi. Will be installing the twin turbo set-up back on soon after the carbon fiber and cage work is done. Stay tuned, I'm sure Bo will be chiming in soon, I told him this thread was alive again. He wants to see 6's with the car when done, 7's not fast enough.

only "scoop" that looks good on a Charger (68-70) is a cowl. And for those of us w/ clearance issues it's the only way to go.

Re: New Twin Turbo 69 Charger on the streets and the strip! - 05/06/13 07:48 PM

Six pack scoops do look good on Chargers and the 70 Road Runner did not have a Cowl induction hood. It was a power bulge hood that ended at the back of the hood. It did not go over the cowlingor to the windshield. PLUS most of them had a scoop on the power bulge that opened up. sorry for the rant! Pet peave of mine. NO MOPAR ever came with a cowl induction hood.

Obviously, it wasn't cowl induction, but on the non-Air Grabber hood cars it's a cowl induction knock off....just like Mopar copied the back window for the '68-'70 Charger off of the '66-'67 GTO-Chevelle-Skylark-442.... Ouch! I bet that stings!! LOL

What's wrong with putting a "Power Bulge" hood on a Mopar, raising it a couple inches and running it back towards the windshield??

On this car, the hood doesn't run back to the windshield...in fact, it stops right about where the "Power Bulge" hood does....

Current update. The car just came back from the shop where a parachute mount was added along with a carbon fiber wing and hood. The car was then taken to his friend's shop further south getting more cage work done for quicker times. Then it will move on to add the plumbing for the turbo mods to fit the Hemi. Should be completed late summer.

Hey Yuck,

FYI , I had to add the height due to the intake height..I didn't really want to, but I wanted to stay true to Mopar scoop designs. I never said I didn't like the cowl on the Blue 69 here on this post...It looks awesome.

Hey Yuck,

FYI , I had to add the height due to the intake height..I didn't really want to, but I wanted to stay true to Mopar scoop designs. I never said I didn't like the cowl on the Blue 69 here on this post...It looks awesome.

Advice: before criticizing someone else, look at your own car

Not true in my opinion...Another vote for 6 pack:

wow really? that looks like a Hog's nose on a gracefull gazelle.

just messing with you, car looks and runs good. To each his own.

I got it...no harm done. After all, these are all classic Mopars that we are lucky to own and drive.

Update on the car is carbon hood wing and a big hemi twin 94 mm turbos . It currently at Andy McCoy shop getting a 25.3 chassis and a few other things. Goal is to dip it into the six sec zone. 3500lbs was the old weight and it has run 7.90

There's an update directly from Bo.
I sent him a text to let him know that the thread had been brought back.

Whatever it takes to get fresh air, and in a racers budget. Not everybody has deep pockets to get the latest and greatest. I am not saying that this is what he did, but I think this looks as mean as anything.

I've never been a Charger fan mainly because I've never seen one that looks good with a scoop but I've gotta admit this blue one and the green one I've seen pics of here on his site look fantastic with 1970 Roadrunner cowl hoods...

only "scoop" that looks good on a Charger (68-70) is a cowl. And for those of us w/ clearance issues it's the only way to go.

That Charger is SWWWEEEETTTT
Love everything I see, nice work and beautiful car. Looks better than most show queens and runs like he-l. Whats not to like?
I AGREE
I made this one myself to clear my blower, ALL steel ,,,tried to super-size the 70` RoadRunner scoop

It's still coming together. I've got some pictures from a couple of months ago, but would rather have Bo give the updates.

I did not read evey post but when it comes to a scoop on a Charger you know one that I liked alot was when Dick Landy had the 67 WO/RO scoop on his 68 Charger as that looked good on that 68 Charger to me. I dont have a pic of it as I wish I did . Ron

6 pack scoops look good!

I like the flat hood with the scoop better than with the recessed areas. That is my opinion on appearance. Tim
