New 383 going into my duster. Using a pair of iron heads done by Muscle Motors (stage 1, big valve and pocket ported). Shortblock has a set of old TRW 12:1 forged pistons. Compression will be 10.2 with .040 gaskets or 10.7 with steel shims. Cam is a Comp solid Extreme energy 244 intake and 252 exhaust (at .050) and .520 intake lift and .540 exhaust. TTi 1 3/4 headers, 4.10 gear and a 3600rpm convertor. What compression do you think I should use and should I use a RPM intake or a M-1 single plane (have both). Have a holley 750hp carb and its sealed to 6 pack hood. Well.........? BTW car is primarily street driven.

I'd use the Performer RPM if it's a street deal.
The best part though, it's only 8 bolts and about 20 minutes to swap and see what you like better.
For CR, 10.7 might be a little high for pump gas, depending on what's available in your area. 10.2 might bt too much...it all depends on the gas, but that's where I'd start.
I LOVE these 383 builds...poor little moder didn't get much respect.

I agree on using the Performer RPM on it for a mostly street car. My sons .030 over 400 is close to your build. He uses Eddy RPM heads with 10.6 comp but with the aluminum heads and the MP .557 cam it runs fine on 92 pump. His 400 is in a 72 Dart with 3.91's and he uses the Performer RPM with a 750 DP. His is a street car and it has the Dynamic 9.5 converter. It has run 11.40's in good air at almost 3600 lbs with him in the car. Sounds like you have a nice combo but I agree that without quench you are pushing it with that cam and 10.7 comp using iron heads. Good luck , Ron
