383 build - opinions wanted

New 383 going into my duster. Using a pair of iron heads done by Muscle Motors (stage 1, big valve and pocket ported). Shortblock has a set of old TRW 12:1 forged pistons. Compression will be 10.2 with .040 gaskets or 10.7 with steel shims. Cam is a Comp solid Extreme energy 244 intake and 252 exhaust (at .050) and .520 intake lift and .540 exhaust. TTi 1 3/4 headers, 4.10 gear and a 3600rpm convertor. What compression do you think I should use and should I use a RPM intake or a M-1 single plane (have both). Have a holley 750hp carb and its sealed to 6 pack hood. Well.........? BTW car is primarily street driven.

I'd use the Performer RPM if it's a street deal.

The best part though, it's only 8 bolts and about 20 minutes to swap and see what you like better.

For CR, 10.7 might be a little high for pump gas, depending on what's available in your area. 10.2 might bt too much...it all depends on the gas, but that's where I'd start.

I LOVE these 383 builds...poor little moder didn't get much respect.

On the choice on the intake and the compression ratio, I would shoot for no more than a actual 9:75 to 1 compression ratio with todays pump swill I have a iron headed 446 RB motor that will ping on the local premium gas if I lean it down so it is at 14,2 AFR or leaner at part throttle with 34 degrees timing and medium heat range spark plug It is a true 9.46 to 1 mechanical compression ratio with a Eddy Performer RPM intake and a Holley #4781-7 850 DP carb This motor is not a true quench motor due to the 906 combustion chamber size and the late head casting
