what sb manifold and carb makes the best power - 08/11/09 12:43 AM
for a 416, 9.7:1 comp, solid cam, 245/250 @ .050, ported TA heads, hooker super comps. makes good torque and power from 3000-6500. ive run a best of 10.2 in the 1000' with 4.30 gears but never been down the quarter mile
I have been playing with my sixpack manifold and carbs but want to try a 4bbl
so whats the hot ticket?

aarcuda......I edited my post. Apparently nobody saw the humor in it.
patrick..........the RPM is a pretty decent manifold and would work
fine on a 416 but, a lot of guys miss the fact that a 416 requires
as much air to run 6140 RPM, as a 365 requires to run 7000 RPM.

Check out this thread:
https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/show...e=1#Post5348972The engine combo wasn't too far off yours, heads were ported W2's (intakes flowed in the 290's) but if Bob Mullins ported your 915's they probably flow pretty well. We saw a nice gain by going to the Holley 950.

I also forgot to add......the 416 won't be nearly as sensitive to any reduced low
RPM torque, when switching from the long runner/dual plane, as the 340/360.

Were it me, looking at the overall combo, i would go with a 950 as others have mentioned, and put a wieand excellerator under it. that intake has real solid street manners, and makes really good power at 6500 on a 416(i used to have that intake on my old 416 and went 10.70's with it on a heavy car with eddies and a flat tappet cam. That intake, IMO, is a perfect fiT for what you are doing, and they have another positive in that they generally line up perfectly when installing them, unlike most 340 victors i have seen, that require either bolt hole elongation, milling, or both to fit.
