Nitrous Book - Monte Smith - 08/07/09 04:32 PM

Hello mates,

Monte, sorry for invading your life but...

I've got the book "Nitrous Oxide Injection Guide by Joe Pettitt" a time ago and didn't like it very mate. I couldn't see the big "secrets" on tuning the nitrous and how to do it for example using a WB AF meter and reading the sparks.

I think Monte should write a book on this secrets and of course win some $$$ wit it!

Although I understand your interest in a project like this and it
is probably purely out of admiration, I wouldn't think he would
care to publish his tuning method out of respect for his fellow
tuners. Plus, it is a major part of his livelyhood.

Imagine all of the melted pistons, all-nighters changing torched
head gaskets, the thousands of dollars invested in learning the
hard way, to sell that valuable information accrued over the
years, only to condense it in a book for a fraction of it's worth.

He must be good at it and my hat's off to him but, do not blame
him, if he was to pass on it, should the opportunity arise.

I am in 100% agreement with S/ST. The guy has spent his life learning, burning and churning. Why would he want ( or should he) spend all the time to write a book and give it all up for $19.95 ? I cant speak for him, but I dont think it would be very lucrative in the grand scheme of things. I was asked by someone on here a while back of what my thoughts were on this very subject and also a DVD of same. I dont see it as being very fair for him. Besides, half the people would take the information, do it wrong, then burn their engines up only to blame him or the book.

To me its just like the guys wanting someone on here to spec them a cam. Well, the real GOOD guys have spent probably over 20 years developing cams and profiles that they find are effective. Hundreds and hundreds of dyno runs perhaps, they deserve at least the sale on a single cam to justify some of their time and effort. Everyone "expects" them to simply help for free, and then half of the people take their advice, then call some big parts house and order it from thyem anyhow.

My and personal observations on here.

Nitrous doesn't care if it's getting burned in a Ford, Chevy, Chrysler, import, or other. There would be a huge market available to sell to. Not to mention a book would immortialize his knowledge. What happens to all that experience when he decides to call it quits or dies?

I totally agre on this! Imagine all the people Worldwide... Japanese... Europeans... and so on... Maybe an interactive DVD... could make good money.... like David Leadbetter Golf DVD...

also... he could charge for personal tips...

you send him a situation and he shows his point of view.... for sure under a little charge $$$...
