How do you mount a gauge on rollbar?

How do you mount a gauge on rollbar? - 08/04/09 12:16 AM

I just got a really nice Stewart Warner digital shift lite-tach.
I want to mount it on my roll cage either above my head or the bar going down the door.
This is the gauge that i got.
Let me know if anyone has any good ideas, or something for sale. Thanks

I mounted my tach on the roll cage in a Autometer gauge pod.

My Autometer voltmeter has a rollbar mount pod . Checkout Jeg`s or Summit . Should work if you don`t mind mixing and matching .

thanks guys. I was looking at some rollbar mounts, and they seem pricey.
I dont think a little bracket should be $35.00 or more.
how much did you guys spend?
Oh yeah the gauge is only 2-1/16 size.
I bought it for the lite, but i like the digital tach for a backup of my original.

What diameter is that gauge? Maybe Summit

Re: How do you mount a gauge on rollbar? - 08/04/09 12:41 AM

It is 2-1/16 pretty small. and summit wanted about the same.
i figured i could get one for like $10 since its so small.
I am wondering if i can make my own?

Maybe that is a good question to ask yourself?

I could make anything, if I had the proper skills, supplies, tools, and time.

Thanks for that. I know i can make, i am wondering how much it will cost.
I was asking if it would be more cost effective to build it or buy it.

One hose clamp around the gauge, one inside that clamp around the bar. adjust to suit, and tighten. Less than 5 bucks.

Well, for 40 bucks it will look better. I threw that out since you seemed to want to spend the money elsewhere.
If you have black padding or cage, you could paint the one clamp to make it blend in.

Why don't you have him put in for you, instead of crying to the moderator about my last post? Maybe these people don't know you're a poseur.

i was thinking of a strap with a nut holding it to the back of the gauge but the stud will be sticking out and into the rollbar.i dont think it is cosmeticly pleasing.
any pictures of the car?[stalling for ideas]

Re: How do you mount a gauge on rollbar? - 08/05/09 02:35 AM

I was thinking some Amish Duct tape,LOL
but really them clamps are common on bikes, stage lighting anddrum kit mounts also rental tent supplys for lights theres tons of em around if you really no where to look.
go to your locak biker junk shops or army surplus they are also used to hold stuff to 1 1/2 tent poles and come in camo.
even pipe supply places got stuff like that for 12 bucks.
how bout big wad of chewing gum LOL

go to home depo or electric supplu and get 2 counduti hangers sizes to match bar and gauge bot together at right angle with 1/4" bolt paint and walla 6 bucks!!!
