any pics of bigtube smallblock headers in a-bodys? preferably non fenderwell headers and all tubes inside the fenders, looking for pics to get a good idea about how to build me some 2" primarys with 3½" collectors

Probably not quite what you're looking for but 1 7/8" in an A-body.

Unfortunately, I don't seem to have ANY of the passenger side.

All tubes are inside the fender wells. All driver's side tubes
are inside the steering column/box.

Tubes 7 & 8, each are routed outside their respective torsion bars.

thanks for the pics, this gives me alitle bit of an ide how to make a set of headers that fit, seems like there wont be any space left at all when they are in there but atleast its possible
i still would like to see more pics of diferent headers, the more ideas the better

Here's a crappy pic of my 2" stainless custom drivers side header. I can get more pics if you would like. All under the chassis and all seperate tubes.

What size are you looking for?
The Tubular automotive 1 7/8s are nice.
Can be mounted with the engine in place, not easy but doable. Good acces to spark plugs and no drag link through them.

that looks nice wouldnt mind more pics of them, since its not all that easy to stuff so much pipe into these small enginecompartments

planing on runing 2" primarys and 3½"colectors, since i can get those tubesizes in stainles for reasonable price 1 7/8" would have been nice but i cant find the pipes for a good price in stainles, maybe i should just do them in mild steel and be happy with it anyway

73 duster "streetcar" will be run on 275 dragradials
for now im just piecing togheter a litle 340 with my old set of ported eddyheads and a lysholm twinscrew supercharger thinking of making some 10+ pounds of boost

cam is probably way of since its a litle compcams extreme energy (242/248@ .050lift) solidroller

this is basicly the remains of my old N/A motor but with less compresion and a supercharger,hope it will work ok atleast..

when money aloves and hopefully before that poor litle stockblock leaves the building i hope to have a R3block with 400+cui and W2´s or better heads under that same supercharger and some nitrous on top of it so hopefully these headers will be big enough for future upgrades also, when i get better heads i will just cut the flanges of the headers i plan on building and put the right ones on

i realy hope i can get all this right and that im not to far of anywhere, car weighs about 3185 lbs with me in it and a the fuelcell full.
i will drive this alot on the street,but i have alot of patience and dont mind a car that runs alitle rough as long as there is plenty of power when needed
hope this will be a good combo for runing in an interesting class at the closest track for cars runing on dragradials

More likely than not(from the sounds of what you have up your sleeve)a 1 7/8 header, of which several makes and models are available on shelves, will be more than capable of handling your needs down the road. I know i wouldnt want a set of full 2 inch headers on my 9 sec 3350 pound a body. But might perhaps like something with longer primaries, however. I went from 3 inch street collectors to 3.5 race collectors several years ago, and cant honestly say i saw squat from the change, on my 422 motor.

thats good to know, i realise now that i kind of missed to point out that i will make more boost on the bigger shortblock that will come, i just want to limmit myself on this stockblock and stock forged crank build to give it some kind of chance of surviving for avile..

Do you really want to build your own headers???

That is probably the last kind of work on a car i want to do.
Have had to modifie a couple of tubes and that is a real pita.

maybe you can find some small 1.875 pieces somewhere, and step them into the 2 inch you plan on doing, and have a step header.

i kind of like doing challanging stuff and its so boring buying stuff in boxes knowing that it so rarely fits like it should anyway thats a good enough reason for me and i realy do like to do stupid things like this

I made mine just the way dragrcr97 made his, not as nicely welded as his but good enough. It was the only way I could fit 1 7/8" tubes from the W8 heads in a stock front suspension.
2" pipes could be made to work in the same location, but I bet you it will be a tight fit...

Just remember that if your going to use different heads later on it might not be as easy as just cutting the flanges and weld on new ones.
The W5,8,9's have higher exhaust ports than standard heads. W5's are .400" higher than W2's and W8 LeMans and W9RP are located higher than that (if I remember what Ryan said correctly).
Just something to keep in mind when doing them

think i have written to you on a diferent forum before about those headers
have thought alitle about that but thinkt it could be adapted fairly easy if needed just a few cuts and welds later
have you tried out your car at the track yet?

The primaries are all different lengths. Equal length is over-rated. I don't even try. Besides what good is Equal lenght if you can't get them on or off? Those headers could be removed in less time than it takes to properly raise and support the car. Without unbolting the starter or raising the engine or anything. Just walk up and remove them.
The headers I built for silvaliant are the same way.

Anyhow, I was taught that if you have an automatic car you want the shortest tube to be at least 34" long, and that is what I shoot for. But the tubes that go down through the K member are 50+" long! No big deal since it improves torque. And since I step the tubes twice and use a merge collector, I doubt it is hurting anything.
