Re: Hood pins on - 07/26/09 12:17 AM

cause dzeus fastners suck, especially with a large scoop. I don't want to be an Eddie and watch the hood blow off at 100mph+. actually been there done that

Why the pin and not zues fasteners

For me I like them as I fear having to pull off a hood in an emergency like a fire with the Dzus

I use to worry about that but I keep a dzus tool
in my race pants pocket and another velco'd in the
car and the dzus fasteners have WAY less air drag,
besides looking better than those trees growing out
of the hood...... JMO

Re: Hood pins on - 07/26/09 02:48 PM

The I would have to worry about losing the tool.

Extra air drag from pins??

Sorry Fred but I try to look at all the aspect of
air drag..... even if you think its funny... thats
why I took off the outside mirrors...about losing
the tool.... thats why I have the one on me and
another in the car.... again.... JMO

Sure dont see them on prostocks.... I know you guys
like them because they were put on some of the Mopars
so thats fine.... and yes they do work.... again...
it each his own(and its your car)

Re: Hood pins on - 07/26/09 03:02 PM

that has nothing to do with it as far as I am concerned. I like them because they are easy and quick to remove. and you don't have to worry about them popping loose and the hood blowing off. thats it. I wont run fast enough to worry about anything else

Re: Hood pins on - 07/26/09 03:06 PM

if so then maybe you should seriously consider a smaller or different style scoop.Unless reduced or changed the one in the picture causes more drag than a train load of pins very could

The scoop is up in clean air for a better pressure,
unlike the short scoops of yesteryear(before they
started do wind tunnel work)... again, look at currant
PS cars(plus my carb is at the base of the opening)

If the scoop was mounted to the engine like this, you wouldn't worry about the hood blowing off, or bulging down track.

so true Dave, but I didn't build this car. it was like this when I bought it. so it is what it is. If I live long enough to finish my duster it will be like yours was.

I like how my new dart has the braces on the front you slide front lip of the hood over then fasten it down...

Re: Hood pins on - 07/26/09 04:33 PM

here you go vedgie, I will probably change the dzus fastner angle later on when I detail the motor compartmnet later on. to something that looks a little better. right now it gets the job done (holding the hood up)

Re: Hood pins on - 07/26/09 04:37 PM

I like pins myself. I don't think I would ever notice an aero-advantage with dzus fateners.
