Mancini cooling fams - 07/23/09 07:13 PM

Anybody know who makes them for them??

An HHR isnt going to work(to much depth/width)and Mancini has a nice 16 incher they sell for 49 bucks that will do the trick(2300-2600cfm as i recall), that will be a huge upgrade over my bent up current fan.

they had some at the classic and i didnt get one as they sold out, and have them on backorder

Re: Mancini cooling fams - 07/23/09 08:34 PM

besides what i though were installation issues, i also worry that my bone stock charging system might not handle the amp load of that fan, in spite of how well it would likely work..that mancini unit(while not perfect)only draws 7.5 amps.
so i have to think about as well

Hook it up with a relay Don... hot line direct from the
battery but the coil lead for the relay off of the
ignition that way you dont carry any heavy load through
your wiring

Hey Don, none of the usual stock style Mopar alternators will cut it with that HHR fan at low rpm....the old alternators have to be running at about 3000 rpm to put out their rated amperage. I tried it, no good even w/a late '70s 70-something-amp alternator. It was fine around 3 grand but running for couple minutes at idle with the fan on, and the battery would be at 10 or 11 volts which makes for some pretty weak spark. Pretty much have to switch to a GM or a Denso alternator if using that fan

Relays are definitely a great idea, I ran two of them in parallel to take some heat off them and would recommend the same, but they don't help at all with the weak stock charging system.

thanks, super advice..i will just get that 50 buck fan, i think it will do what i need it to do, and hopefully before next season i can figure out a better charging system. If mancini ever gets them back in stock..would love to know where they get them from
