Just curious if anyone else has experienced problems out of them or the 280? We are thinking of switching to either the aeromotive or the magnafuel not sure. Any pros and cons on either one of these? PS not the only ones upset with the bg's, was at the national event at norwalk and actually stepped right in and asked a pro stock chief mechanic what he thought of bg fuel pump and his words were not pleasant.......... so wasnt just us also was told by a worker for summit that is why they quit selling bg too many problems anyways just want to know would you recommend Aeromotive or magnafuel??

Magnafuel if those are my only choices. Why not look at Product Engineering as well, good pumps good people and they were the fore runners of the Magnafuels.

Me too. BG400. Bought it in 1995. Only issue was some machining flash jammed the pump by pass. Probably will leak on the current jack stand position, now that I have opened up my big yap.

Product Engineering makes excellent stuff. Mine is quiet and was the only pump that can be mounted above the fuel tank and not have a warranty disclaimer in the instructions if you do so. Great customer service too.
The magnafuel pump is the same pump as the product engeneering pump both made by PE.

BGs customer service was horrible too!!!

A buddy just put a brand new aeromotive pump on his car and it was seized up right out of the box..luckily he found another brand to use as a spare.
The one that was bad out of the box was a 2000 from Aeromotive

Somewhere, buried within the hundreds of links I've saved, is a place that sells the infamous BG housing seal and oring. If I have some time, I'll post the link. Maybe someone who still visits the hillbilly chevy board (DRR) will remember.

A few years back I sold all my BG stuff because I was told of all the problems awaiting me. I bought 2 new Magnafuel prostar 500 pumps and within 2 hours of intermittant run time one new one got noisey and had to be repaired. Since then I have repaired BG and magnafuel pumps. The BG and magnafuel take the same shaft seal and one bearing is also the same. Here are the numbers. These are available at most any bearing/seal vendor.
1st BG
Pump number 1
NOK CU0034DO SEAL
HAD R1-1438S BEARINGS
WE WERE SOLD BRGS. CHINA 9R6 CW
2nd BG
Pump Number 2

NTZ OR NT2 608LU BEARINGS TOP AND BOTTOM
3rd BG
Pump number 3
NOK CU0034DO SEAL
HAD R1-1438S BEARINGS
Magnafuel
NOK CU0034DO SEAL
JAPAN 629RS 1JK BOTTOM BRG.

Re: BG400 Pump - 07/01/09 02:22 AM
My 280 started resonating and would spit fuel instead of flow, but in a narrow window - - right where my car needed going down the track. BG repaired it, then replaced it then gave up and then sent me a 400. All at no charge. Cost me a lot of money as I needed to replace all of the lines - - all braided.
One thing I have to say is that BG service was great.......

Interesting comments. My BG 400 is 20 years old. I pull the carb lines to check the volume every now and then and 1 gal in 14 secs...never heard of a BG400 failure...so it will fail on the first pass next time and then buy.
