Doug's headers for 62-65 Plymouth

The 2" Dougs I have are nice and fit well on my 65 dodge coronet with the EZ-1 heads with an RB block & 4-speed. I don't have an 11" clutch - just the 10.5. They are almost identical to the tti's only much better quality. I also have my motor in the stock location - if you have a newer k-frame then the Dougs probably will not work.

Dave alot of Doug's headers I have seen are fender well design and thats how they list them on the website.You don't happen to remember where you got them or what the part number is do you? I really would like to see them if thats possible. I still have the factory K-member but I am using one of AndyF's motor plates.

They are #D452 I got them at summit - I should have them back in the car tomorrow - I had the motor out to fix an annoying oil leak

Stay away from the 2 1/8" Hookers if you have heads with raised exhaust ports. I made mine fit but had to modify 2 tubes on the left side. My mottor is on a plate so I could put it where ever I wanted. They still wouldn't make it. I had to twist the #1 tube to miss the steering shaft.

I had to dimple the #3 tube for torsion bar clearance. I may cut and twist it as well. I'm undecided. The right side fit perfect.

I wish I had this header info. a few weeks ago. I am not very happy with SUMMIT right now as they did not show ANY headers for a 65' Coronet with a RB in their on-line look up, nor did calling them turn up any headers. After firefighter3931 linked this thread to me this morning, I checked with the posted numbers and sure enough, Summit has them. After calling them and raising hell about it they offered to ship out the new Doug's set without S&H fees. The story goes much deeper, but I will tell you I am DONE with SUMMIT.

To make life easy when installing the D452's remove your drag link and raise the engine up on the passenger side about two inches - then slide the header up from underneath. The drivers side you can slip right in from underneath without the starter inplace - then you have to fiddle getting the starter in not impossible but two people make it go easy. You have to use the mini-starter by the way. Other than that they are an easy header to put in! Thanks to Max-Maniac today for all the help -I should be back up and running in a couple of weeks.

I have fought headers on my 65' with an RB block and 572-13 raised port heads..The 2-1/8 Hookers are on it now but like Dave said fabbing is a must on the left side to make them fit...Dave you will have to drop down the #2 tube 1" to clear starter..

Well I bought the D452's today and all I can say is I love the way they look.Nice packaging and no chance for them to get dinged up or finish rubbed off during shipping if you need that.Now all I have to do is get the heads on the block and engine in the car.

If you have the heads off I would put the headers in first

Well I will probably run the engine on a test stand first with a different set of tubes.I will install the headers in the body first then lower the engine in with the bell and starter assembled while I guide the headers into place on the way down.

Thanks buddy. I am about 2 months out of major back surgery and right now I am living through all you guys that are building and changing your cars.

I'm hoping to be able to get back on my tools before the end of summer. The one nice thing about living in Florida is that our winters are normally great for working on cars. I can't wait. My 65' Coronet 500 has been calling my name for the last 2 years. It's about time I answer..
