MSD mechanical advance distributor - 05/23/09 06:49 AM

well guys i changed the bushing in my distributor. i put in the black bushing and the two silver springs and it starts nice and runs good but i have a dead spot when i try to rev up engine.it does it at the first hit of the pedal. thought it was squirter but i have tried alot of different sizes.A 45 seems to help problem but does not get rid of it.timing is 22 degrees intail 32 total at 2000 rpm.i did not have this problem when i had the red bushing in it. then timing was 14 initail 34 total.any ideas Brad

sounds like a lot of advance at 22 initial. Is there a reason you're changing from the original 14/34?

Just thought i would try and see how it would run.it does seem to idle better with the new advance than it did before.i think i will change back to the other bushing to see how it works. Brad

you may want to add a 50cc pump to the front and come down on squirter size.use brown cams.

i don't believe a 50cc pump is necessary. replace the pump cam to the blue one and reduce the squirter to a 35. that should solve the problem.
the reason your getting that hesitation is the stock cams are not aggressive enough at the hit.
with the blue cam you might be able to get away with as little as a 31 squirter.
