SO.NATS SGMSP weather????? - 05/19/09 12:31 PM
I hate to be a stick in the mud. But the weather forecast isn't looking too good for the whole weekend. There are two lows down south and the front draping across Florida is forecast to backup into Ga. One of those lows could possibly develop into something tropical to boot. What alternatives are there? Has anyone thought about going somewhere else is SGMP gets rained out? I've been looking forward to this for too long and getting the car ready to get rained out.

I was just checking the weather and looking to see what's going on this weekend. Not really planning to come down there but my plans do change hourly. One thing for sure is if it rains,there is no mud. I was there last weekend for the ORTC race, that is a nice place.

Is this the same show that used to be at Silver Dollar? Or did that one fold and this one start? Does the rain extend up north that far?

yes the mopar club runs it..they moved it 3-4 yrs ago...

Checked NOAA's info and it is getting better, but is still rough. I planned to leave Fri AM, so if it's still getting better I'm going.
I'm feeling the same way DC I want to go somewhere!

We should be there Saturday if this rain goes away. Tony grilled food ain't BBQ. That seems to be the norm in Fla but it's not even close to the real deal. The only way to get BBQ in Fla is Fedex.

I am leaving Tampa, on Friday morning - have to make a stop, then on to Valdosta - should be at the track late afternoon Friday, but definitely Saturday. If you have any old MOPAR drag racing photos, bring them and I will take them home - scan them, try to clean them up and send the photos and disc back to you - as usual, no charge at all.

Sitting in the parking lot, a small rain shower just ent thru. Plenty of race cars but none have gone down the track yet. Everybodys seeems to still be in good spirts.

I wish the pic's were a little better. Woody had a few problems on launch. looks like I was a little late snapping the pic. he hit the tires pretty hard. we made an adjustment but it got rained out so we couldn't see if it helpes. maybe tomorrow.

the first car that I ran had been having problems all morning from what he told me we got to the line and he ended up jumping on the starter so that gave me the win in round 1 and 50.00
Took round 2 just plan out run the guy and that was a 100.00 win round 3 was a repeat of round 2 just out run them for 200.00
Final was real close round I had been running a 6.53-6.57 all day the other guy had just ran a 6.55 in his last pass in pro class so we line em up both got a clean start neck and neck I ended up with a win my 6.57 to his 6.62.

dc426's leave...the one they said was red..
i saw his chin...drop...i didnt think he was that early?
did you notice he dropped his chin first..then his arms came down?
congrats on your win...what was it $1250?

(i couldnt change the carb due to lack of t/t and was consistant so i left it alone)
until the arm drop race i figured..id try it..since there was no dial in...
i shifted from 1st to third..wich killed the pass...i think it went 6.77...
but the next pass in pro ..i went 6.66 so it picked up a tenth..
had i run that number ..in the arm drop..i still didnt have enough for you..
i did make it down to 6 cars out of 52 in pro though...

ended up winning a total of 1350
no I didnt notice his chin dropping and my wife said she didnt see DC jump she said it looked clean to her but the starter had the last word it was a cool thing for him to put on and sponsor out of his pocket through for sure I figured it up and the way he paid all round winners he put up 2200.00 total.

That really sucked that we got paired up together on the first round. The arm drop race was fun (just ask Woody) and different. I think the thing that got me on the second round was the guy's rhythm. I knew right off the bat I was early. He came and found me in the pits and actually apologized to me for going out He was a real nice guy for putting on that race.
Cheapst. Your car was looking and running great. My car on the other hand has been about 2 tenths off since I finished the dana/trans/converter swap. I would have never made it into that race if my car was in the old configuration. So it must have all been for a reason.
I just wish I had time to get more pictures.

i was in the stands for DC,s armdrop and it almost started a brawl,some said he went early some said he didnt,WHERES THE FILM!
