Sad reminder: It's the anniversery of Unlawfl's death

Sad reminder: It's the anniversery of Unlawfl's death - 05/13/09 01:24 PM

Gary died in the line of duty on this day, although I can't remember how many years ago. I never met him in person, but we swapped PMs, e-mails, did a few parts deals, etc. Everyone who knew him always had good things to say about him and I'm sure he's still missed here.

Re: Sad reminder: It's the anniversery of Unlawfl's dea - 05/13/09 06:04 PM

Last night, on my way home from work (at 12:30 am today) I stopped and got 2 white castles, one for me, one for him

Then I got pulled over by a deputy for doing 76 in a 65

He let me off with a "friendly warning" as he put it.

At one time there was only one question and answer board on this site. All questions weather they were resto, performance or off topic were on one board. I PMed him basically bitching about the lack of a pure performance board. He said he had had similar feedback from other members and he felt the same way. Within a month, he PMed me a message "Ask and you shall receive" The racing board was born and he was at least partly responsible. Anyway, that's my Unlawful story. RIP

I haven't been on here long enough to remember him, but from all the kind words everyone says about the man he must have been one of the good ones.

I bet he is under a cuda in a garage in the sky.

May he rest in peace.

He was from MI...green (later painted copper) 72-74? Challenger...had it in a magazine not long before he was killed. It ran deep in the 10's...but a pure street car.

Gary sent me parts once before I even had paid for them....he was a great guy.

My... how time fly's.
He was a great guy, always willing to help out with his knowledge and experience. I never got to meet him, but we talked through PM's etc. At the time I had a 70 Challenger and was very interested in his build.

RIP Gary

yes, i remember the article. i thought it was a barracuda, ok a challenger. i talked to a guy at lapeer dragway about 7 or 8 years ago that looked like him and had an E body that color, i thought it may have been him, maybe not, either way real nice guy.

Believe me, he is.

It's been tried before, and I've found it almost impossible to describe all the dimensions of "missing" somebody and what they meant to me using a keyboard....It's a little bit futile and I'm not going to go there....however if he was with us today my life would be better for it. I know that for certain. And I know I'm not the only one.

Cool pic Russ and nice to see u on here.

Gary was unlike anyone I have ever met before or since. And Zippy is 100% right in what he posted.

Sometimes the whole thing still makes me so angry.

My daughter, less than an hour ago, was behind a drunk driver. She called 911 and followed the guy until two County Sheriff officers pulled him over. She circled back around and he was flunking a field sobriety test miserably....busted. Good.

If we have learned anything from losing Gary, I hope it's that it is NEVER O.K. to drink and drive. Thinking about Gary is sad because he enjoyed life so much, and was robbed of that enjoyment for something so stupid.

5 years... time flies. R.I.P.

I was around when the news hit the board - I still remember how cut so many people were.

He had "cred" then as a person and Mopar guy - and he has it now.
