Thank YOU all for being SO amazing.. - 04/28/09 01:04 AM

I really wanted to take the time to start a new post just to say THANK YOU to all of you. So many of you have given me and my family your words of encouragement and concerns about my racecar, and it truly means the world to me. So many of you I just met this past weekend down in Charlotte and I already feel like I have known you just as long as my Chrysler Classic friends back here in Ohio. Others, I have met in passing along the way.

I can honestly say that once the word got out about the motor while driving home I got phone calls from my Moparts family. It just means so much to have the support that I do from all of you. So Thank You ALL! I really want to take the time to just give some shout outs as well..

And there are many more that I am sure I am forgetting. But so many came up to us either at the track to share your concerns. I'm truly overwhelmed with the emails that we have received from people offering to help get this car back on the track and trying to make it possible for us to make it to the Chrysler Classic race here in two weeks. All of you make times like this much easier to get through.

When I came back I honestly was not sure if my race season would be much of anything this year, but with all the help of a few we just might still have a chance. So again, thank you my Moparts friends. You all have truly managed to give me hope when I needed it the most.

As we get more details, we will keep you all posted.

Well my car had sympathy pains for you last night and lost 2nd gear in the trans so if your trans is ok maybe we'll just stick my 500" motor in your car.

HA! You might be right Wild Bill. But to answer your question, dad hasn't taken the motor out yet to see what exactly happened. Well, he hasn't told me atleast. So not sure just yet. I'm still waiting in the waiting room for the update LOL!! Sorry, my oldest was bummed when she got the news. Her words "but your car just went through surgery mom"...

Are we ready to start a 2009 carnage post yet? I'm already aware of at least 2 motors, and 2 transmissions.

Sorry about your bullet - I just smoked my trans on Saturday.

So does this mean that there's another Moparts curse floating around this season??

I hate hearing about trany problems. I was a victim of those for two years in a row. We finally got past that curse and now lost the motor.

I cracked a block on the 6th run on the car.
We put sealer in it and it runs, but we have to build a new short block before this one comes apart My sig pic was taken after it cracked..
Sorry about your motor..and the trans Lildemon...

Not sure yet what happened, we just got home from Charlotte on Sunday night.

But yes, it did break on the track right before the finish line during my qualifying pass with Rich for Pinks All Out. I could have walked across the finish line I was so close to it. Right now from what happened on the track we think it might be a rod, and we know that it put a crack in the oil pan. So pretty sure there is damage to the block, but not sure how bad.

You can tell that Chasity didn't build the engine; cause she would have been out there at Midnight Sunday night taking it apart to see what happened. You guys all know I am right

HA! The only part of that engine I'm allowed to touch are the trany bolts. The engines in both cars tend to be dad's babies since he is the crew chief and mechanic. But trust me, with all the work that we have done over the past month, I have been asking dad everytime to lend a helping hand...

Chasity:

I know where his coming from. When you have measured each part. Gone from parts on the floor, parts on the shelf, parts on order to the day you crank it up. When it goes down the track you will know if something is out of place. Good luck and if we can help give us as call.

Re: Thank YOU all for being SO amazing.. - 04/28/09 09:54 PM

I was just razzin ya Chas. Like the fella said; when you go through every thousandth of an inch in a engine and something lets go; it will eat at you till you figure out what happened. When I ate a lifter at Columbus last year; I had the engine apart before it went in the trailer

I hear ya Eric. No harm done LOL!

Well, we got to look at things tonight and the block is toast. Looks like we spun a baring and then it took out one of the pistons which put a HUGE crack in the block. For thoes of you that remember me cracking the trany down there at Edgewater, you know that when I break things I break them GOOD!

Here are some pictures of the damages

As of right now it looks like the parts from the inside can be used to build a new motor. We have another block, but we are in need of a new cam. The one we have isn't going to work out for us. So if anyone knows where we can get a 490-500 Lift Cam (solid preferably) please PM me and let me know.

Sorry to hear about your new motor Chasity That really sucks, but what is kinda disturbing is it appears that im outta the loop as I had to read about it in the funny papers (Moparts.com) instead of getting my inside info Hope you get it together for Columbus. If you dont find a cam I have a new 509 Hydraulic that was installed in a motor but never fired, if you get desperate. Greg

Well you cant just hear about the favorite child...you have to hear how the cuter one did too

So I ran an 11.74 right off the bat...which I thought it was gonna be a bad run because I short shifted my first shift ( I know I know) and then my second pass I ran an 11.68. Then saturday morning I ran an 11.64 at 115mph but during qualifying I spun all the way to second gear...cause I had the coolest sister ever...who decided to get oil on the track..and they switched over to the other two lanes I still ran an 11.83...but I thought I was gonna cuddle with the wall. Daddy said he was waiting for me to lift...but I went all out

Better watch it Wild Bill you know Melissa, Chrysler Classic is in 2 weeks. She may come after you since your in the same Pro Class.

Dad decided to go ahead and build the small block we have in the garage with most of the parts from Chasity car that he can use. He is on jegs site now getting prices. He said it should still run in the 12:30's that is what her motor has been running. Watched chasity's video it brought tears to mom's eyes. she did a good job.
See you at the classic.

Good luck with getting your engine put back together. If I can help out let me know, I've got some friends in "low places" if we need to to find something maybe we can shake some trees and see what falls out.

Just wanted to take the time to give a HUGE THANK YOU to Koffel's Place and specifically Scott Koffel. I made the drive up to the shop last night and he took the time to go through my heads and even get them done all in one visit. I truly appreciate the offer to help us out Scott and I truly appreciate you taking the time to get them fixed up while I was there. It was a long night, but one that was truly appreciated and I don't think I will be able to say Thank You enough. I have always said you and your family were truly high class people, and this just goes to prove it even more.

Thank You again we are now one step closer to ignition.

Just wanted to take a quick moment to give an update for all of you that have been asking and helping out.

So many people have pitched in and helped out to get this car up and running. And I just can't say Thank You enough to all of you! Once again without your help none of this would be possible.

Thanks to Koffel's Place (Scott Koffel) I had the heads done and are waiting to get placed on the new motor.

Thanks to Fast Racing (Mike) had the new crank shaft polished up and had the three valves that needed replaced in the heads done up.

Thanks to Bob George Racing who helped us out with some parts to finish up the motor and Trany work done.

Thanks to G-Money who provided us with the cam that we needed.

Thanks to Mom and Dad who spent all weekend tearing apart the spare motor dad had in the garage and going through it, cleaning it up, and making sure it was all good to go. We honestly were not sure if this motor was going to work out, but turns out it will get me back on the track for the season.

With all this help, it's safe to say we have what looks like almost all the parts we need to have the now back up motor put together. So if all goes well, we should be able to turn key come late next week and make the Season Opener at Trails. But I don't want to jinx myself, so trying to keep things on the down low for now.
