So I jump on YouTube for a minute... - 04/13/24 03:55 AM

...and up pops Friday night drags at Yello Belly, streaming live.

I have no words. The guy in the wheelchair, sitting in the middle of the track out at the 60', is where I turned it off.

Sitting on or standing by the wall maybe 150' down track? On the track side of the wall?

Still don't know what the guy in the wheelchair out past the tree was doing, but he was there for a while.

From the water out past the starting line, a path just wide enough for the cars. They were yelling at dudes to keep their feets outta da beamz.

I guess I live a sheltered life. And I've seen too many people hit and hurt bad out in front of the water. No interest. If a track operator is making bank and willing to take that risk, that's his business I suppose.

There was a thread about Yellow Belly on the Bullet back when it was still a race board. Guy posted pictures of his car. Went up to make a pass and when he got back to the trailer he had a bullet hole in his driver's side fender.

My Dad said at Yellow Belly they check you for guns at the gate and if you don't have one, they give you one!

If it's the dude I'm thinking of, he works for Nitrous Express and hangs out with Jimmy Dale that puts on these events.

My son (18) wants to go there with me- he has a bucket list of tracks and that is one. We love the small outlaw tracks that time has forgotten. I have taken him to some sketchy stuff in the past (outside of racing too) and we would generally be the type to blend in and not bring attention to ourselves but everything I have read or heard says not to go. For those who have been in the last few years- Is it best to stay away and tell him to let it go or is it just some hype and a few crazy things from some past events? I realize it is not a family place but beyond that- is it just not a place for the average person not looking for trouble?

IMO there are FAR worse places than YB...Stuff has happened there in the past but IMO its the exception not the rule, but it is also not a single event. AS for taking your son, well thats a parents call. If he knows how to carry himself he will be ok. Just have some situational awareness. Stiff rarely happens with no warning signs.....My last time there was last year.

iagree There are some I leave when the sun goes down. The whole atmosphere changes when it gets dark. No, I don't take my kids there. I go occasionally b/c the track prep is really good and it's open year round.
The starter at one track near here caught a stray bullet a while back. shock
Seeing those videos from YelloBelly everyone is all shocked about is nothing out of the ordinary. Obviously not all tracks are like that.
