Where to start

Where to start - 02/10/24 10:18 PM

Last year I took my Demon out for a local track grudge night. It was the first time it had been on a track in at least 2 decades. The engine combo is the same 451 it's had for a long time. That night I had an oil leak that got me shut down before making a pass. We cleaned the block up and built a down and dirty diaper and got to make a pass. The car seems to be leaking from everywhere. The only difference in the combo now to when it was originally built is the switch from carb to Holley Sniper Stealth. My concern is with this swap I removed my PCV and put on Motion Raceworks AN fittings in the valve covers to a Moroso catch can. The oil leaks started with the Sniper swap and my only logical conclusion is the lack of PVC. Any other ideas for me to troubleshoot are welcome. I have a couple days off from the FH and it's warm enough I can go to the storage barn and do some check. Compression check will be first but it's not down on power or seem to have any other issues. My hope is to do HRDW this year and don't want this issue to keep me from it.

Additional info, the engine currently has a Mopar M1 Dominator intake adapted down to the 4150. I have an Edelbrock Torker 383 I could swap onto it since it has a hole in the manifold below the carb base to tap into.

Is the catch can venting?

I presume so? I run a hood on it. It was brand new and never saw any obstructions when assembling it.

Did you switch to synthetic oil before racing it this time?
If so maybe that is the cause, synthetic oils will leak when regular petroleum base oils won't shruggy whiney

Nope I only use dinosaurs. That is for sure something I would've never expected.

Check these links to the Holley EFI forums. It's best to run a fixed orifice type PCV valve with the Sniper.

Mopar specific info about fixed orifice pcv valves

Have to go down to post #7 to see the PCV discussion. AndyF from here responds a lot on the Sniper forums.

Honestly I'm hoping to not have to revert back to the PCV valve, I'd rather run what i've upgraded too but it's sure suspicious this all started once removing the PCV valve.
