Bucky Hess .. need we say more ? - 04/25/09 06:11 AM

Notice the way the car leaves ..
No big wheelie ..slight wheel pick up on drivers side

So, the chassis experts chime in .. what do you think

CAR IS TWISTING ?

Finally using all that wasted energy from the wheelies.

Bucky qualified with an 8.58 for the event

What is the altitude of that track?

I dont think its twisting, if you notice the RR is
squatting about the same as the LF moves up.... its
the torque rolling it..... JMO

I think you are all missing A KEY ELEMENT. If you had the money to waste on a SS/AH car making it leave with the wheels down is SIMPLE.

That's kinda what I meant........That's the whole
point for me to watch the Super Stock Hemi cars.

They have a whole class to themselves now. I just
think of them as an Exhibition Class, since the
Chevrolet guys probably cried to NHRA because they
couldn't run with them. So, they just kicked them
out of SS/AA.

he could have been having traction issues. he does normally leave with the tires high and mighty

Bucky's car seems to be the most CONSISTENT car in the class run after run.

The last few years he has been running alot of races besides the shootouts so I think he is trying hard to have a steady piece that goes rounds VS just "shootout" car.

He seems to be having fun and that is what counts.

I miss the big wheelstands and the older technology however. The modern cars are fast BUT they are getting farther and farther away from true SS cars.

I think he is just in bracket mode and not leaving to hard. His car was built out here and is barely a year old and not sure if that is his primary motor since he did hurt it last year.

not sure. but i think the car is set up that way intentional. doesnt look as cool, but i am pretty sure the chassis was built by one of the best in the business and it looks like it works.

ACtually, the Hemi guys cried because they were going to let Chevys and Fords into SS/A and SS/AA which had always been the land of the Hemi. There are a couple fast Chevys in AA now, but they are still light years behind Westcott.

Since the Hemi Shootout was open to A and B cars Chrysler would have had to let the other makes run the Hemi Shootout too. Just couldn't take the chance on a Vette winning that either.

Im not so sure its that simple. We find it easier to go wheeels up than trying to keep them down.
A few adjustments/changes the cars sky high for well over 60 feet. But when we try to keep the front down the car doesnt transfer weight properly, the tires break loose thus ending in inconsistant et's. Even though the car ran its best ever in the last two weeks by keeping the front end down were still breaking the rear tires loose which was never a problem before.
Now were changing launch chips again, making chassis adjustments between runs...its like starting all over. But thats what test n tune is all about.

As far as Bucky's run...he could be testing as well even though it was an elimination race.
Its really hard to tell from the vid, without being able to zoom & slow the vid down and you cant see his wheelie bars etc. He ran an 8.58 or something like that ?? If he can hook, keep the front end down he's won half the battle.
Wow awesome car...always has been!!

How it realy went down was nhra changed the rules alowing a person to take wieght out and move up a class so where does a hemi car go hence the AH class Making stick and auto run together.
