Re: Dana 60 information - 11/02/23 01:07 PM

Have searched the internet and can not come up with a thing on the Bill of Material 27013 2X. Can not read the Year on the Date on this axle. This is not the only Dana with 27013 2X 2X we have and this one has a date of 7 July of 1970. The BOM is one number less than all the rest that were put in a Vehicle by Chrysler. Looking at any Performance Book by Chrysler I have not come across this number but could be in a Hustle Stuff Book but I do not have any. I have come across three of these rear ends and all seem to be E Bodies with vast different Dates on them. Both the ones we have do have performance gears in them, 538, 513, and both have the Power Lock in them. The other that was posted on moparts a while ago has the Track Lock in it and 410 I believe. The ones we have likely have had a gear change by a previous owner but who know for sure.

How wide is it from flange to flange.

Can you show more pics of it - the snubber area, etc.

I believe it is just under 57 inches, the track to track seems to be just over 61 inches there are no spring perches on the rear end but has what is looks like the remains of a link system. The other rear end is still in the Cuda and has perches moved over but measured up to be a E Body. I have other E Body Danas one out of a 70 and the other in still in my Stock Cuda. Have a B Body Dana in my Challenger.

Some 60's-early 70's Dodge 1/12T pickups came with 5 bolt axle Danas, same as similar year Ford 1/2T (but with 5 on 5 1/2').
The pinion area on these are not drilled for the snubber. Just a stab in the dark.

At that dimension that should rule out them being Direct Connection pieces. I think we only sold 44.5” and 52.5” performance Dana’s through the program.

No snubber likely means truck axle.

Re: Dana 60 information - 11/02/23 05:35 PM

It has the three holes for a snubber on both the 27013 2X axles. One of the performance books that Chrysler put out was useless and really only cared about selling performance things and gave more information on their two shorten axles offered through there Performance Program. I have seen on some Dana Sites and they refer to these as Part Number more 276xx number for smaller pieces of the rear end sold seperately. That made me thing then why was this BOM number not on this list if the housing was sold seperate if this was not a complete unit. I would think there are more of these 27013 2X complete rear ends out in mopar land.

I have a 27013 2x Dana on my 70 Challenger. It has the matching numbers engine and trans and im sure the axel has never been removed. As already said, all these 27013 2X axels seem to be E Body.

Every Dana BOM I've ever seen listed starts with a "6". That looks more like a part number to me.

They all seem to be ebody in length or width. The two I am dealing with are both E Body. One has many 1970 parts in it and was a July built piece but this rear end might not and like is not the original to the Cuda. Are other one that will be used in this Cuda that is being built has a lot of weld on the tube but when it is pulled apart will look at the dates of the unit but the gears are 513 so you can not say for sure if the inners are original to the rear end.
